In all fairness, he doesn't mention an anonymous source. He is "being told" things nowadays. IMO he's getting his info from either Jets forums or a local bar, so Mehta is improving. Do yo realize that Mehta broke exactly zero original news this offseason? All his true statements were re-tweets of either Scheffty or Jets news releases. I absolutely love it!

I get that ESPN reported he was released, because he will be and he was informed that it is coming. However, it hasn't been filed yet.
Very interesting unless it's just something with the league offices not being open on weekends. Everybody reported he was released but it's true you couldn't contact him until the league says so.
I would think with Johnson being told he was released along with the Titans issuing a press release stating he was released that no one is going to be brought up on tampering if they contact him. It's possible that someone at NFL.com just didn't get around to updating the site

I keep up with the updates just fine, I think some others might want to double check their sources before calling people out. It was being reported last night that his release was not on the NFL transactions ... and confirmed this morning. Technically other NFL teams can't contact Johnson or his agent until it becomes official or it is tampering.
I saw it on twitter late last night and this morning. I get that alot of the networks reported him being cut - I get that most people might have believed it was a done deal. Manish should have checked his sources - that was my point, instead of him trying to create mass panic and angst amonst Jets fans. I am sick of that turd.

FWIW, ESPN has a video where John Clayton says he thinks the Jets will land CJ still. However, he thinks Idzik will move very slow in going after him in an attempt to drive the price down.
The only thing you have saying that he hasn't been released is Jim Wyatt at JWyattSports says it is not on NFL Transactions
