It has nothing to do with semantics, the sentence as written was correct, it stated a Future tense Not a Present one, the person who read it failed to comprehend it as did you with your Failed attempt to correct something that did not need correcting.
I feel as if though this is what happens when Idzik offers free agents contracts. *Disclaimer* I dont dislike what Idzik is doing.
Ben Tate is going to be really pissed off if he winds up caddying for Chris Johnson next year in Cleveland after doing the same for Arian Foster in Houston for 3 years.
Do you think Jackson got overpaid? He is making less than half what the top receivers in the league are making and almost nothing is guaranteed despite being as prolific as any of them last year. Why wouldn't he go see what he could get somewhere other than Washington? There are a lot of people that never got past their first visit and you would be hard pressed to legitimately say any of them got overpaid this year.
Chris Johnson dances behind the line of scrimmage more than any other starting RB in the league not named Trent Richardson. He got stuffed for plenty of 1-yard gains and negative runs last year, averaging 3.9 YPC. I think the dude is shot at this stage. His season-long was 30 yards. Even Bilal Powell had a 39-yarder last year.
I think hes questioning the EPIC part. Not the tense usage. WOULD implies that once we sign CJ, our tandem is epic. I the other guy is saying COULD should be used cuz how the fuck do we know if its gonna be epic or not
He is kind of like Barry Sanders in that regard. You can't do what those guys do (did) without breaking a long one fairly often. It's too damaging to the offense to be in 2nd and long ten times for every big gainer. Even Sanders was iffy at times. 2nd and 12 just blows chunks for a QB because now you're working just to get into a manageable 3rd down as opposed to trying to get ahead and if you go downfield then half the time you're in a miserable 3rd and long or worse.
Unless the original poster has the ability to read the future, there is no way saying those two players, if on the same team, will be an epic pairing. They could be, but it is not certain. Therefore it is semantics, and you are incorrect.
Didn't Barry Sanders do that too? oops..nm, I see that was already pointed out. Anyway, there are people on NFL channel today who will tell you Johnson's issues last year were totally related to the complete collapse of the Titan's offensive line and despite that he still ran for 1100 yards..do we really need to argue on whether or not he is better than Ivory or Powell?
I look at a season-long of 30 yards to be very appealing, when still averaging 3.9 ypc. A guy might be able to rip off a few 60+ yard runs, most likely due to good run blocking or luck, and his ypc will be inflated. Take away his 94 yard run against us two years ago, and his ypc would drop from 4.5 to 4.2. A guy who can average 3.9 ypc and his long is 30 yards tends to be more consistent. The only thing it might show is that the running back doesn't have breakaway speed to go the distance, but we all know CJ2K has that.
↑ "I'm pumped!!! Chris Johnson with Ivory would be fuckin epic" "When did we sign him?" I think you misunderstood where this originated from, the 1st quote (above) was someone stating his personal feelings "IF" we signed Johnson. The 2nd quote (above) was someone who misunderstood the 1st quote. Below is the Failed attempt at correcting a statement which if read properly required no correction. "I'm pumped!!! Chris Johnson with Ivory could be fuckin epic" "Fixed for ya."
Powell had 36 receptions all last year. I don't know where that places him overall in the NFL, but it's not a big number. Especially considering how little Ivory was used in that role. Interesting also is that only 13 of those receptions led to first downs. As for Goodson, I think it far from clear he will be on the roster opening day.
if he is signed then the Jets will have signed the best FA RB, WR, and QB that were available this off-season. we have the cap space so I say why not? 3 years 14.5 million bucks sounds fair to me
Having said that I would be for Johnson, I wouldn't be mad if we stayed with what we have as I agree with this. I think Powell, Ivory, and Goodson would be a great RB tandem. Goodson looked pretty solid in his limited action against Atlanta.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 3m Obviously, there wasn’t enough interest in Chris Johnson (& his contract) for #Titans to be able to deal him. Source says #Jets came closest sheesh..if were willing to trade for him we certainly should be able to sign him.
WRONG again, you Failed & now you're attempting to slink away from your original post. YOU were addressing the guy who misunderstood the 1st statement and was questioning when did we sign Johnson. YOU were attempting to correct the 1st statement so that guy would understand that we did not sign Johnson yet, BUT that is Not what the original poster was stating to begin with so your attempt was/is a Failure.
