I like Ivory in particular, but I also recognize he's not much of a receiver. Johnson would be an upgrade there, and not just on obvious passing downs. Someone else mentioned he would be a good match with Vick. I think there's much merit to taht perception. I don't expect the Jets will get him, though. I still don't see why Johnson would choose the Jets.
Yeah i had him & CJ last year in fantasy they led me to my first championship. They both ended the year great
If you are speaking of their tweet that was a question and not a statement...they know the Jets too. NFL: AroundTheLeague @NFL_ATL 19m Chris Johnson tracker: Jets leading the charge? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000339444/article/chris-johnson-tracker-jets-leading-the-charge?campaign=Twitter_atl…
I'm not usually for big name FAs, but I'm willing to give CJ1K the benefit of the doubt that his dancing behind the line of scrimmage was strictly due to a horrendous OL. I don't think we have a great OL, but it's much better and think he would fit in great here. I like Ivory a lot, but I think Ivory is a much better battering ram type of player to come in and spell Johnson. A better version of what Shonn Greene was here. I say make it happen. Pay the man. Vet min, right guys?
Good enough for what? Ivory is good but often injured. Powell plays hard, but the guy is a marginal NFL talent, let's be real. I'm not saying I want CJ0K either. I would rather find our next RB in the draft. RB's are so undervalued these days, we might be able to get Carlos Hyde or Bishop Sankey in round 2.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 3m Four teams that discussed a potential trade for RB Chris Johnson, but ultimately declined to do so, were the Jets, Bills, Dolphins, Falcons. haha..as usual, 3 from the East and unless I hear the Jets are the first team he visits I will set our chances at getting him at less than 10%.
I don't believe anything that comes from a tweet they have seem to all be wrong about the jets this offseason so ill just sit and wait
I would love CJ... Powell STINKS avg at BEST and the rest of our backfield is either often injured or in legal troubles. That said I doubt Idzik offers more then 3 mil per and he will get closer to 5/6
The Jets kept him in 2012 because letting him go on that huge guaranteed contract would have gotten somebody fired. Well, keeping him didn't help but letting him go would have been bad. They kept him in 2013 because John Idzik really doesn't throw things away when they're a sunk cost and there's any chance they're going to be worth something in the future. It's a popular legend around here that Woody Johnson calls all the personnel shots and tells his GM's who to keep and who to get rid of. The evidence suggests strongly that they just follow through on what their plan is with the usual due diligence of informing the guy who writes the checks when they want to write a particularly big one or feel the need to cut and run on a contract. I'm pretty sure Woody and Idzik were in lockstep on both Revis and Holmes. Revis got let go because the Jets wanted to get something good back for him and nobody in Jets management thought paying a CB like a QB was a good idea. Holmes was kept and then let go because that's what his contract status and potential contributions dictated.
Yes they are very similar when you look at both. They're paying Sproles $3.5m a year. CJ should probably command $4-$5m even if it's a one year deal. Throw in a late round draft pick (5th) which equates to a cheap rookie contract and they're basically in the same price range just like I said.
Didn't Powell lead the AFC in rushing or was in second place after 8 games last year, before he started sharing with Ivory? Yeah, guess he STINKS and is good for NOTHING....let me keep capitalizing ACTION words.
Jamaal Charles is getting paid 5.23 mil this year. CJ not even in the same teir as Charles, paying him like he is would be foolish.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 3m Yes. RT @NFL_ATL: Chris Johnson tracker: Jets leading the charge? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000339444/article/chris-johnson-tracker-jets-leading-the-charge?campaign=Twitter_atl…
He also got an 8M bonus and 13M guaranteed..you are comparing apples and oranges and I still think he is working on his rookie contract. What do you think those numbers will be after it expires next year? Actually they must have redone his original deal after the second or third year.
When a free agent signs in the first day or two with the first team he visits it's always an overpay. Nobody gives up the market that quickly unless they sit down and see more green than they thought was out there.
Oh ok.. I just got the notification sent to my phone it didnt have a question mark. See the games they play lol
That's not true at all, it only means they are comfortable with the team and the dollars. The comfort with the team is why they went there first to begin with.
