EDIT: SINCE MANY POSTERS ARE CONFUSED, THIS IS REFERRING TO THE NAME CALLING AND PERSONAL ATTACKS. I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT FOOTBALL ARGUMENTS. Myself included. I've noticed a recurring thing around here late. Everyone fighting, calling names, arguing on and on for pages and pages, etc. I am guilty of these actions as well, but it needs to stop. I get it, we are all VERY frustrated with this franchise and the fact that we haven't won shit for a long time. We actually haven't been a relevant team for much time either, but we, as a fan base, need to see this new GM as a chance at change and new beginning. All these posts claiming Idzik is wrong and needs to be fired need to stop. The man has been in the job for a little over a year. In his tenure here so far, he has traded potentially one of the best Jets ever for two draft picks, one in which the defensive rookie of the year was taken. He has filled roster spots with solid depth and has drafted a possible franchise quarterback. He has traded for a game changing running back, in Chris Ivory, and most importantly, he has taken us completely out of cap hell. No one is crowning the guy savior, but Damn, let's give him some props on his moves thus far and let's see what he does in the future before we shit on him. It is clear Idzik is not a GM who is going to make a HUGE splash in free agency. It is clear he is building a roster that will be strong from the bottom up for years. It is clear he is doing it through the draft and through bargain signings. Why is there still question? Why is there still fighting over this, when it is completely clear on what he is doing? Instead of shitting on him and every move he makes, let's all just sit back and see how it plays out. I am in no way saying I am not guilty of all the name calling and arguing, but enough is enough. We are all rooting for this same shit ass franchise together. Let's cheers to new beginnings and let's get ready for a draft that could potentially set us up for HUGE things. Now let's all go eat a god Damn snack!!!!
You are kinda right though lol Ever since the Vick signing, all the PETA spokespersons came out and took this forum over. It's like a dog heaven in here. J/k
I hear you man, we're a pretty passionate fanbase and we all yearn for a relevant team. I live in Boston, so I have to deal with people telling me how much the Jets suck and get lucky to win, and now I have them laughing at me for Revis and how much "better" their free agency is than ours. They are in win now mode, we are stocking for the future. They may be better next year, but its the year after that I really care about. I'm kind of happy we did not get desean jackson, lets see what this franchise can do with 12 picks in a deep draft, with all of the "cancers" on the team cut. almost none of that 2009-2010 team is here anymore, no revis, cro, sanchez, holmes, braylon edwards, cotchery, shonne green, dustin keller, etc etc. only a few, but they are no longer true focal points of this team. lets move forward if i have insulted anyone, I apologize. we're all on the same team here, and we all hate new england. i swear these are the most fair weather fans and the most spoiled sports town in the nation
Well said. We are all here for the same reason rooting for the same team. Tempers flare and everyone wants to know what the future holds but nobody wants to wait, myself included. It's better for this franchise and it's better for this fanbase. We need continued success, not spurts of it.
I'll fuck you up in Internet arguing hahaha Nah, I just don't want people banned and shit for stupid tension from free agency. We all need to be here when draft day comes.
No I really don't lol As much as I hate some posters on here, like I said, in the end we are all looking for the same goal. There will be a mix of opinion and there will be tempers, but this personal attack shit, that I participated in as well, is dumb as balls.
It started about 2-3 days into free agency when the Jets didn't sign the 15 players a bunch of people on the board wanted signed no matter the cost. That's when the anti-Idzik flaming started. I wish people would just wait for the offseason, including the draft, to play out and let's see what the lineup looks like in September. Then let's play the games before we determine how good the team, or individual players, are. And how about we act like fans and root for the players that wear the laundry to have success rather than predicting failure and then hoping for it just because you want to say you were right. Wouldn't all of you rather be wrong about Idzik, Ryan, Smith, Decker, etc and have them and the team succeed and be able to say you were wrong than have the team stink just so you can I told you so?
This guy! Lol Arguing is healthy on here. It makes the board run the way it does. I'm referring to the name calling and personal attacks. Shits dumb
Yeah but this offseason has been real bad lol No big name free agent signings other than Decker and Vick, signing a guy who was publicly hated for his dog fighting, Revis signing with the Pats, the chance at getting a HUGE playmaker at wide receiver, etc. It's been very dark around here this year lol
I think the hate is good. civil war going on here with idzik or not. I was accused of trolling today by someone with 25 posts to his name. Lol I rather enjoyed it. It made me smile. I don't think anyone takes this shit personal.m
I get what you are saying, and I'm not saying name calling should be promoted. The problem is that people can hide behind an internet persona to make statements and claims without having to give any kind of proper logic or reasoning behind those claims. The biggest problem is that people get whatever claim they've made stuck in their head, and refuse to talk logically. I mean I get it, people are allowed to say whatever they want. But isn't the point of this board to have educated discussions about football and the NewYork Jets? If someone wants to talk about game film or gap techniques or press coverage vs off-man or the benefits of MLB speed in a tampa two I'm all about it. The problem is that people are just making unhelpful statements about why didn't we sign him, why did Idzik mess up again, just so much pointless arguing about useless uneducated crap.
All we ( at least Me) am saying is don't hand me chopped liver, but ask (demand in Rex's case) me to make you filet minion out of it. That's my opinion you don't have to like it, I never follow anyone or anything blindly. We can agree to disagree without the posturing. Ultimately nobody really cares what I or anyone else says on this board nor should they. We are all just waiting for the games to begin again hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.
If no one cares what you or anybody else says, why do we say it? Just to type letters into the ether? I care what people have to say if they can say it well, because there is no one within a hundred miles of me that gives a damn about the Jets so I'd like to have a conversation.
The main forum is more or less a cesspool. Go to the draft forum if you wanna discuss real football topics.
I'm trying lol there's like 12 posts a day total over there. But even so, a perfect example of wasted posts are as follows: "If Manziel is there at 18 & the jets pass on him that would be PATHETIC but TYPICAL." How about talking about what you like about his game, why is 18 a good value for him? Express your favorite plays from his game film or why you think his skills will lead to success in the NFL, and what would happen with our QB situation should he be drafted? But none of that, just whining about something that hasn't even happened yet. The response was: "I disagree. I don't think Manziel is a good risk." How about talking about what's risky about him, or what plays from his film make you think he will struggle, or what team you think is most likely to draft him and why? People make statements or exclamations based on absolutely nothing, from both sides, and it leads to arguing. Those who have been complaining about Idzik are the worst because it just comes across as whining like children, but both sides can be bad.
