I just think there was a lot more speculation by the New York media than in the past because, whether or not you like Idzik, he knows how to keep you wondering and the media free of legitimate sources.

The team was just doing their due diligence on those players. We had our value set on them, if they could make more somewhere else let them go.

If he was something special, then why was an over the hill Reed brought in to replace him?

If you think an over the hill Reed was brought in to replace him, you really know nothing about this team.

Then why did Reed take the majority of the snaps? Explain that one.

Because Allen is extremely young who is learning the game. Reed came in to help mentor the younger guys and Rex played him more to help the secondary so he wouldn't lose his job going 6-10.

If you honestly believe they brought in an aged Ed Reed to be the starting safety, then you are completely clueless. They brought him in to help mentor Allen and teach him about playing in the National Football League.

Are members on this forum really this stupid or are people just trolling? Jesus.

Rex Ryan was coaching for his job desperately by the last 5 games of last season. Reed was brought in to bolster the safety corp and mentor Allen and Milliner and the other younger guys. Rex admitted he became a little too comfortable having Reed in the lineup because of their past experience, and made a conscious effort to give Allen more snaps in the last few games.

Quote from the article written when we signed him:

"They also believe his intangibles will help their young defense. Asked to describe Reed's impact on their young defensive backs in practice, Thurman smiled and said, "Some of them wanted to get his autograph."

He was brought in as a stop gap to help Rex and make a push at the playoffs. He was also brought in to help Allen and Co. develop as players.

Why do you feel the need to insult everyone who has a different opinion than you? It really takes away from any real discussion.

I understand there are a lot of nipple dicked waffle twats on here but disagreement is what makes forums go round. Not every disagreement has to bebecause the other person is stupid.

So mentoring = taking your job away? His playing time was literally cut in half and Reed made more impact plays in basically playing half the year. If Allen was the better option, wouldnt it be smarter for Rex not to play Reed more then? You're making little sense here. Your such a blowhard clown that blows every mediocre player this team has. You cant crown a guy on one pick 6.

Please don't respond to my comments. You and I clearly don't get along since you liked to use your ban hammer like is was a shield to protect you from insults. Now that you are not a mod anymore, I don't need to worry about that.

    Please carry on.

Do you honestly believe Reed was playing at a higher level than Allen? He was brought in to help mentor and Rex took it further than it was supposed to and played him in thinking it would stop the bleeding. It is safe to say Ed Reed has developed into one of the best safeties to ever play this game. When he walked through the door, Rex had a hard on and played him religiously thinking he could get his old Reed back. It didn't happen.

Reed didn't play because he was better than Allen. Reed played because Rex was fighting like hell to save his job and did everything possible to save it, which includes starting an old Ed Reed. This is the same Ed Reed that was benched in Houston. He didn't "beat" Antonio Allen out. He was put in under default thinking he would perform like his young self.

You do that if it makes you feel better.

Although it might be good since you can no longer use your ban hammer when you get upset ;)

What does my having been a mod have to do with your inability to have an adult conversation without tossing out insults?
