Hell On Wheels. It's an AMC original series about the old west and the construction of the Union Pacific railroad. Incredibly captivating show.

    House of Cards

    /thread

One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Of course, not including game of thrones

Apparently House of Cards is off the charts. Am going to watch it this summer.

On Demand the first season of American Horror Story is great.

    What are you looking for?

House of Cards is a Netflix created series. Political/Action/Drama

Luther is a great BBC detective series.

Sherlock is the BBC updated version of Sherlock Holmes series. Each episode is 1 hour and 30 minutes long, I really enjoy the show.

West Wing if you never got around to it is great. A more realistic Washington DC show than
HoC and still relevant to today.

Mad Men I just started and really enjoy.

People swear by Breaking Bad, but I have not seen it yet.

Then you have the sitcoms like:
    The Office (US and UK)
    IT Crowd
    Scrubs
    30 Rock
    Parks and Recreation
    Fawlty Towers
    Everybody Loves Raymond

If you have HBO GO and Showtime Anytime I have more recommendations :)

I second this. House of Cards is outstanding and I'm not usually a fan of political type shows. Spacey is awesome in it.

    Just started watching Veep.

I'm not a big sitcom fan, haven't been so since Seinfeld ended. Hate Big Bang and How I Met Your Mother and Modern Family and Two Fat Girls et al. Hate them, can't stand them for 2 minutes. Any of them.

Having said that, this is comedy gold and Julia Louise Dreyfus and the disfunctional cast is incredible.

It's a cross between the wittiness and politics of the West Wing and Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

    So freaking quick and funny.

Not big on many sitcoms but Modern Family has some hilarious moments. I don't watch it weekly but I just go on demand and cue up one when I have nothing else to do.

Meh, my kids watch it and swear by it but I find it very formalistic.

    Veep is freaking crazy.

Veep is spectacular. One of my favorite comedies on TV.

Modern Family started off pretty different, but it's gotten more formulaic as the show goes on. Big Bang Theory is great background TV while I wait for TBS to play Seinfeld or The Office.

Also, good call, It's Always Sunny and The League are also Netflix.

If LUTHER from BBC is still available WATCH IT!!! one of the best series ever. It doesn't take much to finish as I think each season is four episodes.

The last season should be on netflix now (not currently subscribed to check).

I'm noticing overall that BBC/British shows are shitting on American tv these days.
