it was about 2 plays later that Elway threw a bomb to McCaffery and the game changed. we gave that game away.

When Martin fell into the endzone, I really started to believe they had a chance. I was waiting all game for Elway to show up, and he was nowhere.

    Boy, did that change fast!

Elway didn't do a lot but that pass to McCaffery completely changed the game. we had so many chances and just blew it. I think we had 6 TOs, Curtis fumbled, Byars had a huge fumble, hall missed a chip shot, etc...

Easy to say now but I think the Jets would've beaten Atlanta in the SB. Minny was clearly the better team and should've been in the Super Bowl if not for Gary Anderson missing his only FG of the year (not to mention Randy Moss dropping a TD) in he NFCCG.

Thanks for swift kick in the balls. IMO that was the best Jets team other than the SB III champs.

I feel very strongly they would have beaten Atlanta in the SB that year.

    Ugh!!!!!!

that was sort of like the McCaffery play in '98, one play that turned the momentum but w/ the way our DBs were dropping like flies and w/ Greene getting hurt I think Indy would have won anyway.

'98 was the closest we have come to winning a SB, '10 is the closest to making one(since SB III). I think we would have beaten Atlanta, we would have had a much tougher time against GB but we would have had a chance in 2010.

Just imagine the field day the media will have when we enter the 50th anniversary of SB3 and the 50th anniversary of playing in one. But don't worry Idzik has a plan.

Chris Chandler didn't play, they had 60 yr old Steve DeBerg and we played them at home. I think we would have beaten them but it would have been much closer.

idzik has nothing to do w/ SB III being almost 50 years ago. he is trying to build a team that can compete for multiple SBs, if it was easy to build one we would have done it by now. why not try a new approach?

Because it won't work. Name one team who has ever played in multiple SBs over any number of years you want to choose that didn't have a franchise QB to begin with? Do you really think the Jets would ever get to multiple SBs with Geno fuckin Smith or Mark fuckin Sanchez or Chad fuckin Pennington? It won't work, it will never work and you and I will both die without seeing another if this guy stays in charge much longer.

I was at that game. It was, without question, the most raucous crowd I've ever seen at a Jets home game. The crowd was on it's feet and deafening nearly the entire game.

I never forgot that and I never will.

where are these franchise QBs available? and yes Mark was one, Geno can be one. Eli manning has proven you don't need an elite QB to win multiple SBs. It would be nice if we had talent around the QB, the last time we did we nearly made the SB.

we had good crowds that year like we always do when we are good but I don't remember anything standing out as far as the crowd that day.

That game was the beginning of the end for me as a die-hard fan. I won the NFL lottery for Jets STHs to represent in Miami vs Atlanta, had the Jets won(had the NFL voucher letter for 2 tickets @ $325 each). Since then, my fanatical fandom for the Jets has dwindled down to almost zero now. I still watch football occasionally but I don`t plan my Sundays around them anymore. I held on to my 4 seats until the new stadium was built, which was ultimately the final nail as far as being a STH went. I no longer waste my time and finances on Jets football. It`s the same old crap year after year with this franchise. I`m definitely too old to be the fanatic I was. I find it almost embarrassing to see 40, 50 and 60 year old men screaming like idiots for a game. Now if I ever hit the jackpot in a casino, then you`ll see me scream like an idiot. I did the Jets Season Ticket Holder thing for almost 30 years. It`s simply not worth it anymore. The team is the SOJ team year after year, the stadium is by far The WORST 1.6 billion dollar stadium ever built in the history of mankind and the Jets are no longer a cheap Sunday afternoon out with buddies. The Jets are actually one of the most expensive tickets in the league now. Good for them. They can keep their tickets as far as I`m concerned.
