So how did Revis get 12mil? If no other CB got near that?

I'm thinking if the Jets sign CJ, it's to be in on passing downs and to spell Ivory. If we could get CJ for 2 mil, then sign me up, but I doubt this will happen.

The man still wants to get paid, and I believe he still wants to be the feature back. Ivory is our feature back, and I think the Jets could find someone that can catch out of the back-field via draft (cheaper, potentially faster, and younger).

We have close to $30 million in cap space, correct? Less since Bellore re-signed? Either way, why would you not give Chris Johnson more than $2-3 mil? That number is not going to cripple us in any way shape or form.

4 million is too much in my opinion, for a 3rd down back.

He can be more than a third down back. See how Denver used Moreno and Ball. Or how NE used Ridley, Bolden and Blount. Or really how any top team minus the Seahawks used their RBs.

Soooo.. You would rather rely on an average talent like Bilal or a injury-prone guy like Chris Ivory? I would say that having a durable, every down RB is a need. Ivory is a 2 down back and Powell is an average talent at best. We have the money and Johnson is a significant upgrade to our offense, why the hell not?

    Different market different position.

Darelle Revis is possibly the best corner in the NFL. When you have guys like Aquib Talib signing for $9.5 million, then a guy like Revis gets paid the amount he wants, especially being on a completely different level than Talib.

Chris Johnson is not the end all be all at running back. The market for running backs is not there. It's just not

Ridley was benched due to his poor performance and fumbling issues. Bolden, I believe was also injured? I think it's nice to have a stable of backs, but I am content with Ivory, Powell and either Goodson or a drafted RB (that can catch). No need to spend extra money on CJ. They can get someone younger, and faster via draft.

Bilal is that excellent glue guy that can do everything on the field for you and won't complain. Chris Ivory, where is this injury prone thing coming from? He started the season a little nicked up, but he had some amazing games for us down the stretch. Ivory as our feature back next season should net us 1000 yards and 10 TDs.

Jets need an explosive catcher out of the back-field for screens. That is the only thing I see missing in the run game.

There always a market for home run hitters. Plus Johnson is on a different level then say Tate or Brown.

    Maurice Jones Drew (29) - $1.2 million
    Donald Brown (26) - $3.5 milliom
    Knowshon Moreno (26) - $3 million
    Ben Tate (25) - $3.1 million
    Darren McFadden (26) - $4 million
    LeGarrett Blount (27) - $3.85 million

Now why would a 28 year old Chris Johnson receive over $4 million when looking at this.

    Anything over that is overpaying.

Teams are going to put 8 in the box against us and make Geno beat them So what we need is big threat wide out like Jackson and sign Johnson to use him when they have to take 8 out of the box.

Amazing games down the stretch? His last six games netted him 35, 61, 76, 66, 109 and 19 yards..what was amazing about them?

We didn't play well against the Ravens. The yards per carry average increased as the season progressed. He was also able to take on more of a load. The broken tackles were there, I thought he played very well to end the season.

He should absolutely be the starter going forward.

These type of players can be acquired in the draft. You don't need to pay D-Jax and Johnson to get that production.

Because he has never shouldered the load for a full season and has a history of hamstring problems. As we know those usually linger.

He may be the starter but unless Goodsen manages to stay out of jail we absolutely need another back. Yes, Ivory's YPC was good but you can see for yourself that the Jets didn't think he could handle more than a dozen or so carries a game.
