Nada; even if they relocated. There are so many ways to watch out of state games today. That's not a good enough reason for me to stop rooting for them
Never going to happen, BUT how many guys east of the East River would consider moving to an expansion team east of the East River?
Maybe if they relocated AND changed their name I would think about it, but even the LA Jets would probably keep me hooked...
I guess, nothing, sadly. I have pretty much disagreed with most of what the Jets have done since 2011, but will continue to cheer for them. I don't have to like what they do though.
If they relocated and changed the team name, I wouldn't cut them off, but I would slowly drift towards being a casual NFL fan. It would stink if they just abandoned NY and it would feel weird to root for a non NY team especially if they are no longer than the Jets. I guess this would be different from fan to fan. For example I know some Seattle SuperSonics fans who love OKC Thunder and root for them, but a lot of them who dislike OKC and do not root for the Thunder. They watch the NBA but are waiting for a franchise to root for. EDIT: Thinking about it more, I definitely wouldn't say "I am done with this team, not rooting for them". But like I said above I bet a slow drift away would happen. That drift would be accelerated if the name change from Jets to something else.
if they ever changed the name and moved, im not sure. i dont really know if id want to try and pick a new team or just default to my families team (saints... they lived in NO for a long time, brother was born there). id probably keep up with the new jets instead. i think some seriously fucked up shit like a jerry sadusky-esque scandal would turn me away from the franchise though.
Over the past few days, I've been trying to think of something. @stevepokal put up something that would turn me away from the Jets If Johnson let something like that fester in the Jets organization, I'd be furious and would probably walk away. As a former season ticket holder, I'd also feel partly responsibility for sustaining those crimes, and that's the worst kind of guilt. But anyways, apart from a major criminal scandal, I'd still be part of the gang green community.
Lighten up Francis, it was a fair comment to a question. But then again, I love the islanders and they are about to be the Brooklyn ???, and I will probably still root for them. I guess I will have to wait till it happens to see how I feel.
Jet fan forever, short of Putin buying the team. YOU TELL 'EM KILLzR! Are you rumored to be in a gang? : )
Lmaoo not everything but i was really into it .. My parents have videos of me going crazy to jets games... Madden really got me into learning the game more in 00-01 .. I knew what players were good n what not... And i mean being successful as Super Bowls mayne.. When i argue with cowboys n 9ers fans i speak from my era and they sucked for most of it.. I take pride in our playoffs games but i dont consider them all as being successful
Being a Jets fan is like being in an abusive relationship ,You keep telling yourself and your freinds that your gonna call the police soon to put a stop to the abuse. But after awile you become numb to the pain and and actually look foward to it.You show up to work "proud" with bruises all over your face and in the back of your mind you keep telling yourself that it won't last forever
What is a NY team like the Jets? Is that like the Brooklyn Dodgers or New York Giants baseball teams that, "would never be moved so why even talk about it?" Sports is business. Any team can move. As much as it sucks, the Giants will always be the top football team in NY just as the Yankees will always be tops to the Mets. Secondary teams always run the risk of being expendable.
The New York market is just too valuable in the cable TV age for the league to ever let a franchise relocate from it. The only NY team I could have ever seen relocating out of the area was the Islanders because of the NHL being the fourth sport and the fact there are three NY/NJ teams, but Wang held out and was only really able to work out a deal to put them in Brooklyn. A lot of Net fans disowned the NBA team simply because of the NJ/NY shift and the fact Jersey residents took affront to it. The Giants and Dodgers moved 55 years ago, and baseball got a second team in NY before you could blink. Plus we just re
