I would have to lean towards false. The way the media has crucified this guy, that's the type of shit there looking for. Lol
This was posted on eagles message board. http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-o...jackson-not-involved-in-gang-related-killings
My guess is that letting Jackson go was less about the gang stuff, which is somewhat troubling but overblown, and more about not meeting his responsibilities to the team on a day-to-day basis. The big contract is probably what put the X on his back. If you're the highest paid player on a team and the team does not believe you are giving it your all then you're probably going to get cut at some point.
Yeah this and I heard that Chip Kelly has so much confidence in his offense that he believes you can just swap out players and produce the same results. It wouldnt make sense then to pay Jackson 10 million when you believe you can get similar production at a much cheaper price. A lot of the Eagles offense had to do with taking advantage of defenses not getting set, Jackson surely has a ton of skill but if they dont believe they need him, then they dont need him. Hes good at stretching the field, but in Kelleys offense its more about getting the plays off quicker and deep passes might not exaclty be the greatest thing in that aspect.
On this board http://igglephans.com/ the consensus seems to feel it was a money issue, and not much more. People are pretty heated about his release. On a side note I was glad to finally find a board tht gets as nasty as ours. Most boards everyone's polite, there board like ours big issues arise when there is a difference of opinion. Lol
He had only two seasons before the injury -- one pre-contract and one post-contract. The stats were roughly the same for each, difference is that his attitude was completely different post-contract, was clearly a "cancer" in the locker room and even got kicked out if a huddle during a game, an occurrence so rare and embarrassing it can't be over looked. He was such a problem that security escorted him out of the facility after the game. He had one good year out of 4 when he was productive and was also a good teammate. It is silly, IMO, to argue that one year validates a position that he produced for us in such a meaningful way, either as personal statistics or resulting in winning football, that such production should be weighed greater than the off field (and on field) distraction he turned out to be. Especially when that one season, coincidentally, was a year he was playing for a contract. Sure he was a benefit in 2010 when we had a winning team, but was irrelevant the next three years. We could have gone 8-8, 6-10 and 8-8 without him. He didn't produce in any meaningful way with the Jets post contract that would compensate for the overwhelming distraction he clearly became.
OF COURSE IT WAS ABOUT THE MONEY. Anyone who thinks differently is a clown. I still do not believe the Jets are fully OUT yet btw.
There is 0% the Jets make a move for Desean. Don't get your hopes up, Idzik is a not going to pay Jackson 10 mill a year. All we need is 1 more receiver, and I believe we are going to fill that void in the draft. Drafted WR, Decker, Kerley, Nelson. Plenty of weapons for Vick or Geno
I'm content with drafting two WR now. Maybe even double dip at the WR spot in the 1st and 2nd rounds. Something like Cooks and Davante Adams.
The odds of the Jets getting any WR not named Watkins in the draft just keeps getting higher. Teams like Baltimore and Detroit got free agents to fill their needs at that position and the consensus opinion appears to be that the draft is deep enough not to warrant reaching for a WR in the top 15. Evans/Lee/Cooks can come aboard essentially on a 5 year deal with no contract headaches and can develop next to Decker to form a long term tandem for Smith or any rookie in 2015 to use while performing at a level thats maybe a click south of what DJAX can put up in 2014. I think it is THIS possibility that JI is mulling over. BPA causing the team to go another direction in the draft is still a possibility sure, but the prospect of getting better value with less risk alone makes rolling the dice on DJAX less of a necessity to do. thus Idzik hasn't committed to the idea at all, character concerns or no. Expect a WR in rd 1, unless something weird happens.
no, a clown is someone who thinks it was the money solely, and not the money in conjunction with off-field and attitude concerns. if he was an A+ citizen with no attitude concerns and a great teammate there is no doubt he'd still be an Eagle. they don't want to pay him that much because they don't want to pay him that much and deal with his attitude and gang concerns. likewise, if he was only making $500k a year and grabbing 82 passes, he is likely still on the Eagles, because at that price who gives a shit.
No, and as critical as I have been of Rex, when he said he liked his CBs he displayed the instincts of a team player. It is the coach's job to coach up the guys he is given. So it was not contradiction or even a hint of discord when Idzik came out and said they would have to address cornerback. just and example of two guys doing their due diligence when it comes to their jobs. the media is disgraceful in this town.
No you are wrong, it had a lot to do with the money. A+ citizen or not, if Chip felt he could slide someone else in, why would they keep him?
