If we move to LA AND change our name, the Jets would not longer exist so I couldn't root for them anymore.

Outside of that, I don't think I would change my allegiance unless football itself changed so drastically that I stopped being an NFL fan altogether.

Picking up Tom Brady when he finally gets released, that would do it for me. And since that will never happen I would say nothing!

I became a jets fan in 96... (Was born in 91) didnt thoroughly understand everything about the NFL till about 2000-01. So I've really had nothing to my memory until the Rex/Sanchez era to be happy about. Keyshawn was my first favorite player, Curtis Martin, Wayne Chrebet, Shaun Ellis, j. Abraham, Aaron Glenn, Vilma, Coles, mawae , & a few more were all great jets i enjoyed watching but at the end if the day we were not very successful . Still n all i aint changing teams. Ever . If we relocate n change names that would be weird that would depend on what they changed it to. If we have a fail like the "pelicans" i might have to dip lol

If the team moves to LA and folks decide not to root for them anymore that meant they weren't true fans?

Were Browns fans fake for not rooting for them once they became the Ravens?

That's a dumb comment because a new York team like the Jets would never be moved so why even talk about it?

If this were the Raiders or Jaguars, then yes, but the Jets? They aren't going anywhere so who cares?

I don't think many browns fans rooted for the Ravens

Brown's fans were promised before the team left town that they would be getting an expansion team that retained the history and rights to the Browns. Really doesn't compare to a team just leaving, they knew they were getting a team in a few years

I can't speak to his coverage abilities as I paid exactly 0 attention to that but I thought Coples made very good progress the second half of the season at the OLB as a pass rusher. He was a disruptive player in the backfield relatively frequently. I think he's a guy that could really make a jump this year and be a difference maker on defense with everyone paying so much attention to Wilkerson and Richardson.

after the second kotite year I said to myself "if we don't fire dick, i'm done with this team"

luckily, or not, they fired him.

That's basically the only reason folks have said they wouldn't root for the Jets. You made it seem like under NO circumstances should anybody not root for the Jets.

I watched the special on the '95 Browns and they only mentioned the city of Cleveland retaining the name, colors, and history of the Browns. No mention of them being promised a new team.

For me, I wouldn't even need the name change. If they move, I'm done.

I root for the NY Jets. Of they became the L.A. Jets, it would be over. It wouldn't be the same team. Sorry you don't consider me a real fan.

You're 1000% correct. There was zero mention of a new team in Cleveland until the NFL had to step in a few months after Modell had that press conference, in Camden Yards no less, announcing that the team was moving to Baltimore and a new team name and identity would be established. I guess many here are too young to remember but there was such backlash in Cleveland at the end of that '95 season that Modell received death threats every time he was spotted in Cleveland or Ohio for that matter.

The NFL stepped in because of the backlash and to calm the Browns loyalists said there would be a "deactivation" period for the Browns of 3 or 4 years and a new team and stadium would be established in Cleveland, hence the new Browns.

Nothing they can do... I been through everything with this organization. I been rooting for these bastards since I'm 7 and they have given me so much misery, but still I can't wait for football season and watch every game, good or bad.

I could never abandon this team. IF they ever relocated, (which is very unlikely because we've been shit for 40+ years and haven't even sniffed relocating), I'd probably follow them wherever they go, depending.

I don't like Mike Vick and I'm against him on this team and etc, but the name on the front is a hell of a lot more important than the one on the back.

As a fan who has never lived anywhere near Jets territory, I suppose I wouldn't care one way or the other if they moved, as long as they didn't change their colors, name, etc. I have some good friends who were Houston Oilers fans, and went on being Tennessee Oilers fans. A few of them are still Titans fans, while some follow the Texans, and some follow other teams.

Root for the logo on the helmet, not the name on the back of the jersey. Meaning who cares who the Jets sign, as long as they help us win that's all that matters

    Let me get this straight.

You were a fan at 5 years old and knew "everything about the NFL" by age 9?

Maybe you should be our GM.

    BTW...since '98 we've been to the playoffs 7 times
