Read the NJ.com article. They may not be completely accurate and they may be over-selling it some but they were pretty meticulous.
I think you are tainted by your desire to have him sign. From all reports, the bolded is just not true.
If you believe the latest Florio piece on PFT then 3 teams are chasing Jackson aggressively and one wants him desperately. Why does this seem unlikely? Well, if anybody out there desperately wants Jackson he's available to sign at a moment's notice. Just hanging out there waiting to sign. Not off fishing somewhere. Not in Vegas on a long weekend. He's out there. Right. Now. So that "desperate" team is in theory offering him a huge deal to sign with them. And he's saying no. Right?
im talking about on the field he puts in work he works hard on the field, and most likely off the field too who cares what some players on the eagles had to say they jealous and mad because of his ego and he keeps talking the talk and walking the walk every game. U dont remain one of the fastest and most athletic players in the league by not having any work ethic. i also stated in the post that it has nothing to do with him coming to the jets, i live in philly so i watch alot of eagles football and i have been a fan of him since he came to the league.
Soooo we signed a dog killing former convict...but we can't sign a guy who "allegedly" had ties to gangs? Get this done already!
Adam Schefter ✔ @AdamSchefter Follow Jets are NOT one of the nine teams that now have inquired on free-agent WR DeSean Jackson.
When you trade for a player, you don't just get the player, you also get his contract. You'd have to give that 7th round pick and pay him his current contracted, which was around $10m/year, which teams felt was too high a price for him.
Its about going forward not the past. Vick has shown to be a respectable citizen and a good locker room presence. There are doubts about Jackson going forward.
MIght as well find a new thread for us to indulge in. supposedly we have no ties to djax anymore and our names arent even mentioned his now. Im sure after someone else signs him the media will report *Jets tried to offer last minute contract to free agent DeSean Jackson* but it will be too late.
Meh, I'm okay with not getting him. With all these other teams interested I don't think we could have got him to a 1-year deal that would really benefit the Jets and minimize the risks. Hopefully we'll get some great talent in the draft.
This is the first year in a long time that I was more interested in the draft than any other aspect of team building, very deep draft and we have a lot of picks, off course they had to move the damn thing to May so it makes the wait even more painful
yeah im with you there. its the safer route anyway. But damn just the thought gives me that offense i been dreaming of since the last time we had some balance back in like 2010. I wish Ebron and Watson was in arms reach, they got that instant impact type talent.
That's just the way it looks right now. A lot of times it's a mental thing for players to be able to adjust to the speed of the pro game and that is the part that isn't really able to be scouted for the most part. There will be players that make immediate contributions and some of them will be in the middle rounds. Hopefully Idzik has his scouting hat on
Jackson to the raiders, yeah that would really help improve his "I'm not affiliated with a gang" image.
I don't think Idzik offered our 4th and 5th round picks for DeSean. I think he offered to take DeSean off their hand for THEIR 4th and 5th round picks! That'd be more like the GM we need around here.
