Oh so that's the kind of person you are....and you are not ashamed of letting the whole world know it too, smh.
You really are a moron. Read this off Seattle's website: "John Idzik begins his sixth season with the Seahawks after joining the club on February 16, 2007. With Seattle, Idzik oversees player negotiations, the team’s compliance with the NFL salary cap, player personnel transactions, all football operations budgets, staff and team contracts, team travel and most aspects of the day-to-day football operations while also remaining active in player evaluations. In addition, he serves as the club’s primary liaison to the NFL Office and represents the club at League meetings."
Who said anything about a bidding war? Where is this bidding war at? The guy isn't going to get paid by us because he would no doubt be a cancer in the Jets locker room. There is nothing more to it then that. You do not pay a ton of money to a guy that is affiliated with the Crips, who has no work ethic, who is constantly in trouble off the field, who has no respect for the people around him. You do not pay a player a bunch of money if the team that just had him cut him because they thought he was most certainly going to be more harmful than good for their team. He was super productive for them, the contract wasn't the problem for the Eagles, the player was. That is a huge red flag. Why would you want that HUGE red flag here? There is more to football then just playing football. How many times do people have to see the same bullshit story about the player that was a cancer in the locker room, who had a ton of red flags, but they signed him anyway because he's a good football player, only to have everything fall apart. Turns out to be a huge mistake that only hindered the team and set them back. Rinse and repeat. Happens all the time, it has happened to this team. Again, there is more to football then just football. Pick an example, there is a ton of them. This isn't about the money.
If they pass on this over character issues, fine. But they better damn well draft a playmaker for the passing game. They CANNOT ignore this need any longer.Somebody w/ the ability to CREATE offense.
Football is a bottom line game. It's about scoring points, stopping your opponent from doing the same, and winning. DJax was one of the biggest reasons the Eagles were so good last year. LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson were their 2 biggest stars, by far. His life off the field is irrelevant to the smart teams, as long as he doesn't get suspended or hurt the locker room. And he did neither last season. As for the bidding war under way, there are at least 6 teams interested in him, so as an UFA he will go to the highest bidder. That's the only reason he won't be a Jet. Idzik doesn't like to pay star players, so he will draft rookies and let them go when their rookie contract expires. Don't be shocked if he lets Wilkerson walk rather than give him the mega-contract his market value will dictate very soon.
I wasn't referring to him mentioning it before. I was referring to the fact that it has been discussed to no end on here. If you still think he is only a cap guy you are an idiot.
no dude....some one is gonna sign him! But if 6 teams or so are courting him, then 5 GMs are gonna come away without Desean. Are they asleep at the wheel too? Or does that only apply to Idzik ?
About half the teams in football follow the pattern he is establishing at this point. The Jets have not only been in the other half for much of the last sixteen years (since Mawae and Martin) but they've been in the most active group in free agency in a few seasons. If you look at who wins the Super Bowls it tends to be teams that are in the largely inactive half with a key signing here and there. That's getting muddled a bit this off-season because a few contenders with aging QBs and narrowing windows are really splurging. Most years that is not true. If Tom Brady and the Manning brothers were not well over a hundred years old between them it would not be true this year. For the Jets to pursue free agents like the Pats and the Broncos would be completely inappropriate from a contextual point of view. It would be like an eighteen year old kid buying a Porsche so he could compete in the Indy 500.
So this is the kind of person you are? At least admit you had no fucking clue what you were talking about and you were too lazy to do the research yourself. And then the worst part, deflected when you were proven wrong.
All I'm saying is if Idzik doesn't sign Desean because of anything other than a money issue, I cant support him.
Makes a lot of sense. That's why the Jets hired the Korn-Ferry consulting to tab a GM to run a 1.3 billion dollar football organization and why Korn-Ferry selected a guy with NO real football experience. Brilliant. Along with his 'cap' smarts, Idzik was involved in player personnel decisions while in Seattle.
Can we all just agree to stop replying to the guy that thinks Idzik has never been a personnel guy? We are just wasting everyone's time.
