Shortly after the news, Eagles center Jason Kelce tweeted this: We just made an extremely unpopular decision, but I couldn't be more excited and happy with where this organization is going!! #FlyEaglesFly — Jason Kelce (@Jkelce) March 28, 2014
Revis can cover anyone, he's the best damn corner this game has seen in ages, maybe ever. He was not right last year and was still the best. He will not be fully recovered and dominating again. Guys like Jackson are the types that give him "trouble" but he pretty much gets the best of everyone who he matches up w/ when he is healthy.
He assaulted a Patriots fan at SB42, got locked up in Arizona Jail for a month, got a bunch of twitter followers. Posts fake news. He broke the Revis story I believe, he has broken some stories but he basically just takes guesses and gets some right. He got the Lebron to Miami story first to, and Peyton to Denver.
James Jones doesn't have this "gang" distraction, and will come at a better price. also won't blow up nyj headlines which usually is a big distractions, and will be better for locker room chemistry. it's obvious that djax is a better player but considering everything else, I would've wanted james jones
Not sure about anyone but he knows how to take most receivers out of their comfort zone. He had a lot of trouble dealing with that strange route running of Stevie Johnson. If he is able to get his hands on a receiver within five yards that wrs ability to participate in the play is pretty much gone
to get a draft pick in return would require a team willing to take on his current contract. maybe nobody wanted him with that contract, regardless of any other issues he had. If nobody wanted him at that contract and preferred to take a shot at signing him to a more favorable deal there is nothing suspicious at all about them releasing him and not trading him.
And you know all this how? Because the media is claiming it to be truth? According to a couple NFL executives who are quoted, this off-the field issue is "bullshit" and is "overblown" by the media.
A month for assaulting a Pats fan? He must have put him in the hospital, regardless iBob you're alright with me.
and how do you know this? you have just as much proof as i do with my claim. reports also said that jackson skipped meetings, so its also about the work ethic, not just the gang stuff. he might not be a gang member but he's also not that "high character guy" idzik is looking for to build a team around
In the wake of the Aaron Hernandez situation, it seems that all these "outside the lines guys" are going to be labeled "guilty" until proven innocent. I would sign him to a 1 year deal, with the understanding that it would be in his best interest to work hard and prove the critics wrong if he wants to stay in the NFL..
for someone like jackson, some other team will offer him a multi-year deal and he'll get the money he wants. sure we have vick and mm but he's not going to take less money to play for the jets. i mean if the jets manage to sign him, i'd be ok with it but i'm not getting my hopes up. its almost a lose lose, either idzik will lose his strong stance of building through the draft and getting character guys, or we lose out on a legit #1 that will make decker + kerley so much better and allow us flexibility of our first rounder. its up to our gm to make that call, and so far it seems like we will no get close in a bidding war
Let not forget that Idzik had a hand in drafting Richard Sherman. His character not the best plus he tested positive for PED.
Where's the beef? All this vague bullshit means nothing. If there are specifics out there, let's hear them. If he's in a gang, name it; give us dates and places of anything he's done. Give me a police report or a claim that someone is willing to put their name to. I don't really give a crap if his ex-girlfriend's cousin went to school with Attila the Hun - what do you have on this guy? An artfully crafted contract can put virtually all the liability for any problems, large and small, on Jackson himself if there is a true need for that.
Maybe he said, "Fuck you and the horse you rode in on, I am not getting hurt trying to catch Nacho's passes".
Prosecutor: Mr. Chappelle, what would it take to convince you that R. Kelly is guilty? Dave Chappelle: Okay, I'd have to see a video of him singing "Pee On You," two forms of government ID, a police officer there to verify the whole thing, four or five of my buddies and Neal taking notes, and R. Kelly's grandma to confirm his identity.
Apparently there was little to no evidence connecting Jackson to that incident. The manner of the eagles' decision leads me to believe that Jackson did something off the field between signing his contract and now to precipitate the release.
