If we don't sign him it will be because Idzik has his thumb up his ass again while other teams are acting. Clearly there is interest or Johnson wouldn't have come close to tampering with his comments last week.
I agree it makes me nervous also, but he never pulled a santonio Holmes, I have never heard teamates bitching about him. He may be a problem, but I think this is overkill and IMO the eagles are insane for releasing him so early. Kid like that you can make a draft day trade work at minimum. The eagles fucked this all up and now are in full damage control mode. I may be wrong, just how I feel reading and hearing all this shit, that now is at the forefront.
How about the other 3 or 4 or 5 GMs that are interested but ultimately wont sign him? Thumb up the ass syndrome as well?
Then he is looking for as much or more money than he was making. And that rules the Jets out unless Woody is going to step in and fuck with Idzik's plan.
I'm wondering if the NJ.com story was going to run and somebody called the Eagles to get a reaction and the call was the impetus for finally cutting ties with Jackson. The Eagles had to know whatever slim trade market was out there was going to dry up as soon as the story ran. It could have been a self-serving plant by the Eagles but it's just as likely they were told it was running and decided to run screaming into the parking lot.
Oh, so now you think he won't be signed? Somebody will sign him and it will probably happen in the next 2 or 3 days.
I don't think that is so, necessarily. obviously every player is looking to get the maximum amount he is able to get, but not wanting to renegotiate his deal could be a combination of not being happy with the team and not wanting to take a pay cut to play for them, specifically, when he previously agreed to play for them based on a higher amount. if your employer came to you and asked to take a pay cut after you both already agreed to a specific salary, and you weren't particularly happy there, would you simply take the pay cut or would you just leave if you knew you could easily get that same renegotiated amount anyways with another company? and if you were intent on leaving, there is no need to accommodate a trade by renegotiating and help the Eagles in any way rather than become a free agent and have the option to sign with every team, even those not willing to trade for you but are still interested.
Yes I think that a representative for a football player using electronic media to contact a football team is reaching out.
I see where you are going and don't disagree with most of it, but it is very very rare that a football team will actually ask a player to take a paycut. Most times it is a restructure that gives the player guaranteed money to move numbers around and help the team's cap situation. As far as being intent on leaving, I think that might be closer to the truth. Jackson was happy as a log two days ago after talking the Big Chip, and the next day Big Chip was noncommittal, and the following day Jackson is gone. Hard not to conclude that Jackson didn't find out about his release two days ago.
I would sign Jackson just purely for the entertainment of watching Revis try and keep up with him streaking down the field for two games this year. Not really, but it would be nice to have someone that would seriously give him trouble.
