Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 4m Smartest thing I heard from Jets @ league meetings came from Woody Johnson, who recognized NFL teams build quickly. Not gradual process #nyj Now if only half the people here would realize that too.
Like the Seahawks and Giants and Packers and Steelers and Saints? Shut up Woody. Not everyone can sign Peyton Manning and Wes Welker.
Mehta would think anything was smart if it gave him a reason to bash Idzik. It has been his reason for living all offseason
i keep checking here every day to see if we've signed Clemons or have traded for a CB (Joseph).. or even made a depth move at G or TE. guess it's too much to ask to have a personnel move during league meetings.
Every one of them have a franchise QB and every one of them were garbage before they got one..get one for the Jets and then MAYBE they can build slowly too.
Matt Lombardo @MattLombardo975 · 47m ago The Philadelphia Eagles & Mark Sanchez have come to terms, bringing the veteran QB to backup Nick Foles. #EaglesTalk http://fb.me/6z4nC8nlI
Can probably expect a small wave of action after the conclusion of the meetings, like the combine, it's another event where all of the owner/GM's/Coaches are all in the same spot again.
NFL teams build quickly if they have a franchise QB. And whether you have a franchise or not, you need to play FA/draft correctly. That combination can lead to fast rebuilding if done correctly. The Jets haven't hit the draft portion yet which can accelerate their rebuild. Also you have to remember it still is a gradual process to rebuild. The better teams start the gradual process before they actually need to rebuild.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 52s Former Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, per league source.
if that's true, I want no part of him. You need to be physical if youre gonna play coner in this league
*Waits for the same three stooges to come in and rant about how Idzik sucks because Miami signed Moreno and we didn't*
There were two Chris Clemons on the market this year. The DE signed with the Jags. I believe the FS is still on the market.
Yep. When a team has been doing things in a fundamentally sound manner and they hit a bump in the road they can retool really quickly. When a team has allowed depth and talent to deteriorate all along the roster, they can't. Jets were in the latter state exiting 2012.
DYST Now @DYST_Now 2h UPDATE: Pittsburgh Steelers are the favorite to land Maurice Jones-Drew. Jets and Patriots close second. Miami no longer interested y.......yay? Why get him?
If the Jets don't believe Mike Goodson is a good risk at this point they might try to sign MJD to a 1 year deal as part of the rotation. He'd be a much better 3rd down back than either Ivory or Powell due to his superior receiving skills and blocking ability.
