UD's not 'BCS' yet at the same time, it's not a mid-major either (Iona, Manhattan, etc.) and to that end Dayton is not a 'little guy' when it comes to their basketball history or tradition. Getting called on something that is patently wrong does not constitute an inordinate amount of "concern" over anybody, simply discussing (in this case disagreeing) the subject at hand. And stop taking everything as me, me, me first person insufferable.
Dayton is a mid major. schools like Iona, Manhattan, etc.. are not mid majors. Dayton has a nice history but one FF in the 60s doesn't make them a major program. they have won 2 tourney games since 1985, have made one sweet 16 since the Tourney expanded. they are a mid major, nowhere near OSU.
Yet somehow, Ohio State is OBLIGATED to play them every year because they happen to reside in the same state.
You completely miss the point as usual. You brought up UCLA and St. John's. I showed you their schedules. You ignored it. You are completely wrong, you must know it, and you thus twist everything and set up strawmen. Cincinnati is no mid-major. Ohio State ducks them just as much as they duck Dayton. I brought up Dayton BECAUSE THEY PLAYED OHIO STATE YESTERDAY. I know this would be very hard for you to figure out.
OK, so you brought up St. John's. http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400498717 http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400504486 http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400502511 http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400504509 http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400502737 You also brought up UCLA to somehow show that Ohio State is justified in never scheduling local rivals. http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400506588 http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400498038 http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400502943 And the St. John's and UCLA examples were just from this season.
So you think Ohio State is not only obligated ot play dayton, but they are also obligated to play Xavier and Cincinatti every year?
You don't read, you don't remember, and you don't listen. We talked about this yesterday. You asked how many teams should Ohio State have to play. I replied. Nowhere did I say Ohio State has to play EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL IN THE AREA as you keep claiming I said. This is either because you can't read, or because you can and you are being deliberately obtuse. You and junc seemed to say Ohio State shouldn't have to play Dayton because Dayton is a "mid major". Cincinnati is not a mid major. Ohio State ducks them as well. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basket...n-rivalry-in-need-of-revival?urn=ncaab,wp3101 I wouldn't say anything if Ohio State did play Cincinnati. Or Dayton. Or Xavier. ONE of them.
I never said anything about Mid Majors. You don't read, you don't remember, and you don't listen. I said Ohio State is free to schedule anyone they want, and with the exception of their conference schedule, are under no commitment to play anyone. It doesn't matter if they are minor programs, mid-majors, or the big guys: They can schedule whoever they want. So, you want Ohio State to play ONE team: Why does it HAVE to be Dayton?
Errr, yes you did. Today. You don't even remember today? You agreed with junc, who was making that point. Actually, that's the difference between you and me. I am capable of doing all three. You keep ignoring what I wrote. You brought up UCLA and St. John's. You, not me. Look at their schedules and it proves my point. YOUR two examples schedule several local out of conference games every season. It is a fact that Ohio State ducks Dayton, Xavier, and Cincinnati. No one is saying Ohio State has to play all of them each year. If they played one of them each year it would be a lot better and the ducking allegations would go away. So if the NCAA tournament forces Ohio State to play one of them, and Ohio State loses, that is justice. Period. I never said Ohio State wasn't free to choose their own schedule. They do choose their own out of conference schedule, and duck Cincinnati, Xavier, and Dayton. It's not illegal to duck rivals, it's just cowardly.
Junc made the point that it was unreasonable for large programs to play EVERYBODY, which I agree with. Just proved that wrong. So where does it end? If they play Dayton one year, can Xavier and Cincinatti call them cowardly because they don't play a Big 5 - like schedule that Villanova does?
I said they were obligated because they were a rival in the same state. I said NOTHING about the school side. You sure you can read?
How about reading the post you agreed with? junc said Dayton is a mid major, which justifies Ohio State ducking them. No, what you proved is that your memory is so terrible, you can't even remember things you said today. No. I said where it ends. If they played ONE, then the allegations would go away.
Yes, I can read. junc made a post about Dayton being a mid major. You agreed. You then claimed to have said nothing about mid majors today. Either you have a terrible memory or you didn't even read junc's post. Which is it?
I apologize. I'll drop it. I admit I was foolish in suggesting that Ohio State was free to schedule against whoever they choose to.
Obligation equates to pussification due to their hesitance to compete. Being scared of embarrassment by a local team makes an NCAAB program illegitimate.
I think the NCAA should hold a thorough investigation, leading to possible fines and suspensions against the University of Florida for having the audacity to beat Dayton. I mean, where is the justice?
How is that justice? Do you think you're being funny? Are you really this dense? You can't tell the difference between Dayton/Ohio State and Dayton/Florida?
