Even if his salary and playing time were high enough to warrant a comp pick, which I doubt they will be, they still currently have a net gain in FA's. Sanchez, Holmes and Cromartie won't count because they were released. I think Howard and Ducasse are the only eligible FA's and the Jets already exceeded them with the incoming FA's.
While I like mjd I just don't see how and or why it's necessary. Okay the guy has maybe 2 years left which implies we'd be using him in a win now mode. But okay if that's the case then why does the rest of our free agency scream go for the future and not spend now? If we are focusing down the road then what's the point of mjd and if we are trying to improve right now then what the heck are we doing sitting around not signing better players or trading for a guy like djax? To me the mjd thing just doesn't fit.
I wonder if Chris Johnson might be an option depending on the price. That would pretty much mean Goodson would be gone. Ivory, Johnson and Powell would be pretty nice.
In theory, this idea of adding either Johnson or Jones-Drew to our backfield sounds great. That being said, it's really hard for me to see this FO doing so know that Black Mamba can be (most likely) had with one of the three fourth round picks.
Isn't that what everyone said about Tomlinson and that turned out nice! MJD will be cheap and hungry next year i think it's a good move, Ivory, MJD, Powell would be a solid tandem!
his load will be less as well, this reeks of another LT scenario to me, I like the idea of this team becoming a haven for players to prove their mettle.
Goodson is coming off major knee surgery and still has charges pending against him in New Jersey. I see no reson to believe he will be a contributor this season. We only really have Powell and Ivory. I know there are some good 3rd down type backs to be had in the mid rounds of the draft. It is probably a good thing to look at veteran guys like MJD and Chris Johnson to fill this role.
I like our running backs right now,Powell had some bright moments and Ivory was a beast. If we signed MJD one of them is gonna get less reps,as far as Goodson goes we might as well cut him
Goodson is as good as gone... MJD i think is still a decent option for one year... It's an LT situation with him... Everyone says he's done but i think he's got one more decent season left.
Rich Cimini @RichCimini 1h Rex: "Watch out for the Jets, man, that's what I'm telling you." #nyj I am seeing glimpses of old, confident Rex. I think that is a good sign.
I think the old Rex is coming back. He was caught wearing a shirt saying "I will sell my wife for beer" and he was taking shots with some fans hahahha I love that Damn guy. I hope he stays with this franchise for a long time.
Why is everyone so quick at getting rid of Goodson? If he is healthy enough to play and the charges are dismissed he will be better and faster catching off the back field than any of them.
No way I'm interested in MJD, especially if it's true that he wants $3mil. Once we upgrade the rest of the skill positions our RB's which were already pretty good will be even that much better. Hopefully Goodson comes back healthy and his legal troubles are behind him so we can add that other dimension to the running attack
yes he was, he was not the same guy the last few years. maybe that is b/c he didn't have the confidence in his teams that he had previously but he wasn't the same.
