Would be crazy to snipe Murray

Talk about a QB competition. Vick-Geno-Murray?

All 3 could win the job.

But if he is there and we have a chance to get him, YOU GET HIM. HE could be a franchise QB. But wouldn't he be out for a while anyway because of injury?

Murray is terrible. He's got a future in this league as a practice squad scrub. No point in drafting him with Vick and smith on the roster. It wouldn't even be close to a competition.

It would be a wasted draft pick IMO. Spend it on a lineman

c the comments about d. jackson and the impact on the offense....no doubt it raises the level on the field but in no way does it preclude the jets from still improving the "O" on draft day....

the depth at WR this year is amazing and to ignore that would be careless, regardless of whether jackson is here or not.
we still need more talent at just about every position on the O and this draft is a perfect tonic for that.

Aaron Murrary......you have to be kiding me right? In rd 3 ...!!!! If you want to give up on Geno, fine. but don't tell me you are going to draft a very undersized QB, who is more of Greg Mcilory game manager than any sort of legit threat. No way would I even look at a qb till yr 3 (2015) season end of Geno.

Would you take this as a mandate on Idzik or Rex? I think Idzik should be real nervous right now. I think Djax would make everyone feel a lot better going into the season then not having him. Then Idzik could relax a bit and implement his "plan". As for Geno and Vick, it doesn't matter who starts all that matters is how the New York Jets finish!

I would say the pressure should be on both but this needs
to be a mandate on John. This is ridiculous. .. If you want to improve on the record then the money needs to be spent on improving the roster!

    Woody, Woody, Woody........

Please STFU!! You not only have us being accused of tampering; even though Philly initiated trade talks. You put heat on both Rex and Idzik, and I'm not sure both deserve it. We may loose 2 picks for this DJax deal, and we shouldn't have to give up any for a headcase diva, concussion prone, malcontent wide receiver. Especially in a deep draft of wide receivers!

And like there was no tampering by the Patriots when Revis signed with them 4 hours after he was cut, right! You know why they are not being accused of tampering? Because their owner knows how to STFU!

He is not being accused of tampering. Philly would need to be the one accusing him of tampering. Yes, he did mention another teams player but I doubt Philly is going to go after a team they are actually in discussion with regarding a trade for Jackson.

Its not tampering unless Woody Johnson called Jackson up on his phone or talked to his agent behind the teams back,That's tampering,Its not some big secret that the Eagles wanna get rid of Jackson they have been very open about dumping him .Woody won't see any problems,Woody Johnson and the owners pay Godells salary, you think that Godell is just gonna start fining owners?Jim Irsay won't even get fined

woody needs to be smarter than to talk about a player under contract. whether anything comes out of this or not it was stupid to talk about him.

If you talk to the media about wanting a player that is under contract with another team it is tampering. Woody is probably safe though since the complaint would need to come from Philly and since the Jets are a possible trade partner they are not going to ask that the league investigate.
You also bring up about the Johnson paying Goodells salary, doesn't the Eagles owner have as much pull as Johnson?
Irsay will probably be fined and suspended although that will not have as great an effect as if it was a player.

I don't think that's totally correct. If the Jets and Eagles have discussed a trade, even a phone call saying "how much for Jackson?", tampering cannot be claimed.

Is this the only team in the league that cant multitask with players?

I want D-Jax but it's like we're not looking at anymore free agents. Chris Clemons and other really quality players are still out there

It is technically tampering according to the rules. For that reason the Seahawks GM stated that he had no comment about a player on another team's roster when asked the same question about D-Jax.

“Any public or private statement of interest, qualified or unqualified, in another club’s player to that player’s agent or representative, or to a member of the news media, is a violation,” the league’s tampering policy states.

Nothing will come of it unless the Eagles eventually release him and he signs with the Jets. Then the Eagles could claim that it hurt their chances to trade him. Woody should keep his mouth shut and let the football people he hired do the talking and dealing.

First of all, we don't know who the Jets are and aren't still looking at as free agents. This is because aside from a few announced visits the Jets never told anybody who they were looking at. All that "Jets have interest" crap was coming from agents and in some cases thin air.

Secondly, free agency isn't over by a long shot. The reason Chris Clemons isn't signed yet is that he's still asking too much. That's why he was on the market to begin with. At some point he'll start to listen to the offers people actually made to him and maybe the Jets made him an offer and maybe they didn't. A player's agent will frequently publicize the fact that a player got an offer (interest) from a team however he won't do that if the offer was well below the player's asking price. There's no point in telling the world that teams think a player is over-pricing himself.

At this point it is pretty clear that Clemons is waiting things out hoping that some team that expressed interest will decide to sign him at something approximating his asking price. If that doesn't happen then he'll wind up with a 1 year prove it type deal somewhere. He probably won't return to the Fins because that doesn't help his marketability next year. There's no reason to believe that a return there wouldn't just leave him in the same situation in the next free agency. In the absence of real offers he will probably wait it out until the draft is over. That's the point at which teams have most of their working roster in place and where his market kind of sets in stone for the year.

Coming to the Jets would be a good move for him, just like it was for LaRon Landry. It'd give him more exposure in a major market playing for a guy who knows how to make defenses click. So maybe we get him on the prove it deal somewhere in the vicinity of the draft.
