yeah, and its the contract which is why people are saying he isn't worth trading a 3rd rounder for. it is also the contract that is part of the reason why he is available to begin with. nobody is saying his talent isn't worth a 3rd round pick in isolation. but I am still not sure what is disrespectful about that.
LOL all the "Idzik is building through the draft" cats now want us to give up a 3rd rounder for a 27 year old WR with a massive contract. Pick a position and stick with it. I'd rather have signed some CBs and OL, and draft a bunch of weapons early in the draft. But no, we were told that FAs that fill holes will ruin the team forever!
Look at his track record. The guy will have a few monster games but he will also disappear for stretches of games. He also has a reputation for being a malcontent. He'd obviously be a huge upgrade (a lot of guys would), over Clyde Gates, Stephen Hill, and Greg Salas, but I wouldn't give up the pick(s) and pay him $10 M year. He's not worth it. He's also gonna demand a new deal either right away or before the end of the season. I'd only go after him if Philly cuts him.
I don't want to trade any of our picks away. We need them all. If Philly cuts him, it would be the best scenario. NE can't pay him. Carolina would have to move a lot of cash around. Seattle can pay him, but it would be a huge mistake. They still gotta pay Sherman, Wilson and Thomas and have Harvin on the payroll as well. We could pay him. I hope not for 10M a year. Is there a certain date he has to be cut by?
Give marty the tools he needs to get the job done! This team needs balance, get me Djax and CJ2k and free agency is over! Draft bpa in the first 2 0r 3 rounds then fill holes. Who will pick us to finish 32nd in the league then?
Actually, those that want to build through the draft don't want any part of Jackson. There are a few of us on here that actually understand how a long-term salary cap works. There are people that want FAs, then when we didn't get them, tried to drink the kool-aid (so to speak, as the fact that we didn't go crazy is a good thing), and then decided FAs weren't the way to go because that's what ended up happening. Just like if (probably when, but crazier things have happened I guess) Jackson goes elsewhere, many of these people will claim they never wanted Jackson and that he would've killed our cap.etc
Trade a 4th and give him an extension where it makes it 4yrs/$48million. Hell, an NFL contract is not worth the paper it is written on. To get a WR and PR all in one is a good deal for us.
They don't have to cut him until the end of the pre season, that's when his salary becomes fully guaranteed. But I'm sure Philly want's to trade him before May 8th or on draft day. After that he will be of no value to them.
did you just jump off the turnip truck? why would a guy making 10 million a year accept a contract for 4 million a year, duh? he had his best year last year and now thinks 10 million a year isn't enough and wants out of his contract so he can get more $$$ the eagles are looking to dump him bc for the same reason the steelers dumped holmes, locker room cancer and whinning for more $$$. i remember watching replays last season on this guy about how he doesn't like going over the middle and has alligator arms if a defender is close to him. he's a high risk, high reward for 1 season while making his 10 million, then next season when he's due reduced money (9million) he'll want a new contract and most likely hold out. so if the eagles cut him, he'll definitely be looking for the highest bidder!
there is no contradiction from anyone that has defended Idzik's approach to free agency and desire to have him trade for Jackson if they believe Jackson has a grater value than any of the players that were passed on. only someone unreasonable would think a reasonable position would be for someone to never want Idzik to sign a free agent or trade a player simply because they have defended that he has not done so to this point and prefer that strategy.
You totally missed my point, I am talking about paying him between $7-10 million a year but with low guaranteed money so we can cut him if we want. You also clearly haven't read any of my other posts, all indicating I do not want to trade for DJax. I originally stated I would consider signing him if he gets released but to a contract no bigger than Decker's. I then said perhaps I'd be open to paying him more with the caveat that there is little guaranteed money per year involved, so he can be released if necessary.
He's arguable better than decker. It might be hard to get him for less, the contract he currently has is like revis dream contract. I read the way they structured it it's like a series of one year deals. I don't know anything about his locker room/off field behavior, but it makes me uneasy that they seem so hell bent on letting him go. I wonder what may be wrong with him. For his production his contract isn't that awful.
I listen to a Philadelphia sports station and they all pretty much say the same thing......he's a front runner. He's happy when he's winning and catching balls, complains when he doesn't. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Yes, I live in south Jersey so everything here is eagles eagles eagles. He is a front runner. That being said.....we def could use his talent Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
100 percent. he's an amazing talent, young, contract isn't disastrous. All seems perfect... BUT, of course he's a crazy person. Lol .
