that's a fallacy. Giants? Ravens? once your in, its a new season and the hot team can go all the way.
the "Hot" team" is either the really lucky team (Giants) or the superior team (Seattle, New England, Ravens, SF, etc)..
I think Desean Jackson and getting the TE Ebron (if he's as good as they say) could make us contenders to go deep in the playoffs. My biggest concern with the team is the secondary right now.
I don't need no stinking crystal ball...I have something else, and it's called, "common sense." The Jets could just have easily been 5-11 last season as they were 8-8. They will have a lot of young players developing and getting experience and could have 4-5 rookies starting. They might make the playoffs, but I don't see any way that they would be "legit" contenders for the Lombardi Trophy. Rex isn't that good a coach, and even with a homerun draft, the team will still have holes and question marks, especially at the primary position, QB. Anything else is just blind homerism imo.
Your last sentence took away any credibility your post almost had. So thinking Rex is a good coach is just blind homerism? Gotcha.
Yeah, that's the kind of guy you want to have on your team, especially a team with a lot of young players. I swear some of you guys are absolutely clueless.
I'll agree with you its unlikely, but consider this - the jets had an awful secondary last year and were developing their D-line. If the jets just get average secondary play, they'll have a top 5 defense because of the strength of their front 7. If you put some building blocks around Geno and with MM as offensive coordinator, I think they can have at least an average offense. An average offense tied to a very good defense can make a decent playoff run, which is what happened in 2009 and 2010. I don't believe its likely, but it is possible.
Sigh. Learn to read. I didn't say that thinking Rex is a good coach is blind homerism. I said that thinking that the Jets will be legit contenders for the Lombardi Trophy is blind homerism. If you have question ask, don't accuse. I'm with whomever suggested that posters need to be given a grammar test before they're allowed to post, except I think it ought to be a basic reading comprehension test. Many of you wouldn't be here and the level of discussion would be a lot higher and better.
Aren't you the guy who didn't know how to word a post on DJax/people not fitting with a system? I'm thinking you're the problem, because I'm not the only one. Why in god's name would you follow up a sentence that says "Rex is not that good a coach" with the sentence "anything else is just blind homerism" if you're NOT trying to say that anyone that thinks Rex is a good coach is a blind homer? Maybe it's you who needs the help. You probably shouldn't wrap up a paragraph with a sentence that refers to someone you said 3 sentences ago. That's just me though, and I'm a fool who can't read, so...
Sure, almost anything is possible. It's just not very likely. Everything would have to fall in place perfectly for the Jets with the draft, remaining FA, all the players drafted last year would have to develop and all the rookies would have to contribute at a high level immediately. That's just not gonna happen. This is the Jets.
There were other things in that sentence other than Rex, yet you singled out Rex. If you don't like my posts or writing style, feel free to skip past them or put me on ignore. That won't bother me one bit.
Again, I don't know why one wouldn't assume that saying "anything else is just blind homerism" after a specific sentence means you think if anyone thinks the opposite of everything you just wrote, it's blind optimism. Keep backpedalling.
Hey NC this is off topic but you talked me into watching tape on Cooks and I have to say, he's quite a football player, not afraid to catch passes over the middle and very good at route running. I still think Lee is a better prospect though because Cooks is quicker than fast I project him as an outstanding slot receiver. His hands are outstanding too, its almost a toss up between Lee and Cooks.
"Oranges aren't even that good. Bananas are. Apples are really good too. Any other opinion is just blatant homerism." "I like oranges, I don't think that makes me an orange homer." "OMG WTF why are you just singling out that ONE fruit? Besides, the blatant homerism thing was about a sentence from a post I made in a thread on another message board three years ago. LEARN TO READ."
Lol the guys on NFL Network are all paid to over dramatize things and portray the NFL how it wants to be portrayed. Read real articles online, listen to podcasts by legitimate NFL experts, watch tape and listen to press conferences and read between the lines. If you do none of these things but listen to NFL Network and ESPN media personalities, your opinion is not only less informed but also dictated by what the NFL conglomerate wants your opinion to be.
That's half the reason the NFL hires ex coaches and players, because the fans are more likely to trust and follow them.
So explain to me how you are anyone else gets well formed opinions? Your generalizing pretty hard. Clarify what makes your opinions stronger? Where should I be getting the quality info?
