I definitely want him but not worth it right now if he is supposedly going to get cut. Might as well Just wait to see if it's true

There is no report of him wanting more money. There is a report of him wanting a new contract. People are assuming he wants more money.

I posted this before but i will again.
His original contract was 5 years 50 mill 10 mill guaranteed. With 3 years left he only has 6 mill guaranteed out of the 30 mill.
Which means he could make 30 mill or take a serious injury get cut and have 6 mill at 28- 30 years old.
There is not much security in his current contract and it was meant to be that way.

Its very possible D jax wants a typical playmaker contract which could easily be done with low salary high bonus contract.
No WR of his skill set wants a contract ending at 30 years old with such a low guarantee its a death wish to a receiver.

Not a good move. If he gets cut, there are already talks of teams going after him. Teams that are not looking to trade but are looking to take him in the open market.

If we don't act now, we will be going against other teams that will look ten times more appealing. Seattle, San Fran, New England, Green Bay. All these teams have said they would be interested if he were released. The only team in our way right now, from what I'm reading, is Oakland.

If the Jets trade for him, he is a Jet. If he is cut, the Jets have to compete with a number of other teams and it drives the price up. If the Jets want him, the better move is to trade for him under the condition that we sign him to a new, more cap friendly deal that is longer and includes more guaranteed money, but is not $10 million a year. As I said earlier, sign him to a 5 year deal for $40 million and guarantee half of it. I think Jackson wants more guaranteed money than the $6 million he has coming. I don't think he can possibly be unhappy making $10.25 million a year.

    3rd round pick + 10.25M cap hit?

    Go take a hike, DeSean.

Idzik is never going to pay. He will want him on an impossibly cheap deal. It's never gonna happen.

What do you have cap space for? If you aren't willing to spend it on one of the best receivers available, what's the point?

This trade would be a total no-brainer if all it takes is a third. Fits the system perfectly, makes Decker/Kerley better, he's only 27 years old and it's only going to help our young QB.

Idzik is just amassing money.. It's amazing we don't have enough to get anything done, yet teams with a third the cap space will pull if this deal. It's comical

more guaranteed money annually with a lower cap hit would be a great compromise if we're assuming that is what he's valuing.

think 8 mill every year, all in base salary with 3 years of that exact amount guaranteed, no more, no less. not sure if a signing bonus is possible via trade but if in FA that could be added to lower that cap hit for one year or otherwise sweeten the deal.

If what he's after is an assurance of good pay every year and no risk of getting cut, thats is a fine deal for both parties. The biggest issue would be that third year, he and decker would make 16 million together, but hell if they're that good and the cap increases as its speculated to that shouldn't be a big deal, especially given how easy a cut Decker could be.

If he wants money on the double digits fully guaranteed for more than maybe this and next year we have a problem though.

Anyone getting a sense of a Deja Vu? Remember Santonio Holmes? But at least he had a ring and a SB MVP when entering Jets stadium.

I wonder how many of you who want Jackson for a 3rd were unwilling to give up a 2nd or so for Josh Gordon, who is 10x the receiver.

Santonio didn't have anywhere near the numbers that Desean does, and despite how well he played in that SB, let's not act like he got there by himself.

Holmes when we got him had barely broken 1000 yards once and wasn't anywhere near the type of receiver Jackson is. Not to mention Jackson brings another dimension with his return prowess. I can't stand when people try to compare him to Holmes. It's really not even close.

I hear you but, I lost interest in small injury prone #1 WR's.

    Santonio
    Height: 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m) Weight: 192 lb (87 kg)

    Desean
    Height: 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m) Weight: 175 lb (79 kg)

These type of WR's work well with good QB's because good QB's can accurately get them the ball. However, Geno is inaccurate and I dont think he would fit well with Desean. Geno needs a WR who can jump up and get the ball even if its over or under thrown. . . . someone who can block well . . . someone very physical. Plus Desean strikes me as someone who could get impatient if Geno struggles.

If Geno throws deep passes with Desean that could be beautiful. But overall, I see too many red flags with this trade.

Most football players have some sort of attitude. .. seems to come with millions of dollars. However, this one has the talent to back it up. This is a simple clear cut no brainer if you can get him for a third. Our offense goes from dudly to deadly if we can field Decker/Jackson plus whatever we do I the Draft.

I wouldn't call him injury prone. He's missed 9 games in a six year career
