My friend sent me that this morning, and I found it pretty funny. Anyhow: @ProFootballTalk: Source close to Vick says getting No. 7 w/ Jets is "last thing on his mind"
First off, I'm talking about legitimate prospects. Throw White, Henry, Harry Williams Jr. all out the window. Secondly, you're digging yourself deeper. Now let's take a closer look. Hill was a mistake. Kerley was drafted as a slot WR and is damn good at it. McKnight didn't pan out, but he was a late pick. Stuckey was a good slot WR for us. The fact that you think Cotchery is the best WR on this list confuses the hell out of me. Santana Moss, while nothing special as you clearly admit, has a season under his belt that was better than DeSean's best year (84 catches, 1483 yds, 9 TDs in his first year with the Skins). Let's also see what he did for the Jets (THE JETS!). He had a season with 74 catches, 1105 yds, and 10 TDs! WOW! THE JETS! That's better than DeSean had had prior to this past season. He also had a couple other 1,000 yd seasons, including one with 93 catches. I'm sorry, but if Moss is a joke (which he is now and has been washed up since 2011), then DJax isn't far off. Same goes for Coles, mind you. 89 catches, 1264 yds, 5 TDs (ON THE JETS!). Then 82 for 1204 and 6 TDs when he went to the Redskins. Then a lot of years that don't look a hell of a lot different than DJax's. Not to mention, Coles was MUCH more of a chain mover than DJax will ever be.
Moss was soft as a Jet. Thus he wasn't a good pick for the Jets. He turned out to be a good Redskin but that doesn't matter for the Jets.
I would like to try and trade 2 4ths for him, one turning to a 3rd per production (obviously one for this yr and one nxt yr)
I want no part of DJax. Some posters here are absolutely clueless. A guy has great stats and they automatically want him. Doesn't matter if he has poor character, poor work ethic, injury history, may not fit our schemes, or what he costs. It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant many Jets fans are.
Ugh, I give up. You and I are on two different wavelengths with how good DeSean Jackson is. Personally, I'll pass. Don't think he's worth it. I'm talking from a production standpoint only. No thanks. Sure we've missed on draft picks, but so has everyone. A lot of WRs in the draft that I'd take a chance on before I wasted a pick trading for DJax and his salary ramifications.
Great stats for one year, mind you. Our fans love going after career years expecting that trend to continue.
You just said DeSean Jackson may not fit the West coast offense... after he broke out playing in a West coast offense? You're right, some posters here are clueless.
So you guys would rather have Stephen "cant catch shit" Hill trotting out there than somebody like D-Jax? wow.
Why wouldn't D-Jax fit our scheme when the OC he was with, is here with us now? Poor work ethic? To note, I hated Holmes, but the main reason was his lack of production. D-Jax I believe is a different case.
Like my offer with the Texans for Joseph, I am cool with a trade down from 18 to 22(PHI's 1st round pick) and giving up that high TB 4th. That's more enticing for the Eagles then getting a low 3rd. Maybe you offer them a swap of picks in the 3rd round in addition. That's as far as I would go.
I feel a D-Jax, Decker, Kerley, Nelson corps would be the best WR corps we've had in God knows how long. It could have the potential to be the best ever. Add Ebron to the mix and it could be the best offense we've ever had, especially if Geno steps up. it will require us to sign D-Jax to a long-term deal more than likely though. Are we willing to do so?
the whole board is in uproar about not spending any of our cap money on all these overrated FA then now nobody wants DJax, the fastest player in the league, because they think his contract is overpaying him by 3 mil. Lol.
