It's not just signing, it's the heft of the contract combined with the fact that we are trading for him as well. When making a move this big, you always want to know what kind of risk there is when making an investment like this. The move would dictate a number of other moves we will make as well, for instance it would then become very unlikely we draft a WR high, and he would be a big part of our offense. It's a win-now type of move as well, which seems a little odd considering how up in the air our QB position is right now. It really doesn't strike me as an Idzik move but I can definitely be proven wrong.

That's why I said you can draft 10 of him. One should pan out.

Let's be honest. DJax didn't light the world on fire until last year. He has been a good WR throughout his career, but I would say he's been a far cry from anything spectacular. I stand by the fact that he disappears for stretches. So does Decker. If he were making what Decker's making, I'd be a little more intrigued. As it stands now, I'm not willing to give up a decent draft pick to have a guy who is, in my opinion, at or above his real market value. I understand we have the room. I understand there's not a lot out there. I just don't see him as the answer to cure the Jets' offensive woes.

We know what he brings to the table, but we also know that the Jets are not the Eagles and football isn't exactly a plug and play and expect the same exact production kind of game. Could he? Sure, but that's no guarantee. And even if it was, are the Jets really a DJax away from the Super Bowl? I say no. He'd be a decent piece, but I still think we could save that money, draft a receiver or two or three, hopefully land our own DJax or better, and not have a good sum of money tied up into two WR spots when our offensive line is aging, our outside pass rush and our secondary are suspect, and our QB is a huge question mark. We don't know what the future markets will be like, and flexibility is nice to have.

Last 10 WR's the Jets have drafted.

    2012 - Stephen Hill - can't catch
    2012 - Jordan White - lol
    2011 - Jeremy Kerley - love him
    2011 Scotty McKnight - lol
    2008 - Marcus Hnery - who?
2007 - Chansi Stuckey - Hard Knocks star
    2005 - Harry Williams Jr. - who??
    2004 - Jericho Cotchery - love him
    2001 - Santana Moss - joke
    2000 - Leverneus Coles - can't catch either

Of that list 2 have been decent.. Cotch and Kerley... Our track record of drafting receivers isn't that great... I'll take my chances on Jackson.

Vick is not getting #7. That would be crazy. I guess reporters have nothing to talk about.

Bit of a stretch. Coles and Moss were great players. Cotchery and Kerley also solid. Stuckey was decent. The only bust is Hill and he still has a slight chance to improve.

Santana Moss was actually great for us for a bit.

2003: 1,105 yards and 10 tds. (Plus 17 catches for 20+ yards...and that's with a weak armed Qb, too, so a lot of yards after the catch).

For shits and giggles I will keep going.

    2000 - Windrell Hayes
    1998 - Chris Brazzell
    1997 - Dedric Ward
    1996 - Keyshawn Johnson
    1995 - Curtis Ceasear
    1994 - Ryan Yarborough
    1994 - Orlando Parker

Are you sensing a trend here??? We can't draft for shit.

The point I am trying to make is for every 3-4 guys we draft, 1 turns out good.. .We have never had a superstar like Jackson here in New York.. Ever!

holee shit - that is a scary list if complete - just goes to show u why our passing offense hasn't been a threat in more than 10 years - aside from a few games with favre.

I hope we sign Vick and they give him number 7. being a hokies fan I've followed his whole career and his name is synonymous with number 7. it be real weird and sad if he had a dif number.

I really hate to trade draft picks but I've come around on the Djax thing. I want him here. Our offense will literally go from improved to straight up dangerous overnight. People complained about giving up a 4th for Ivory, that move turned out to be a nice one. Desean is worth a 3rd. And who cares if he's being overpaid, we have unused cap money up the ass that we're just sitting on. not like they are going to refund our psl's if we don't use it.

    "ahh love these cleats"

You're wrong, imo. Moss and Coles were good receivers, and each was better than Kerley.

Our Madden 15 overall will go from like 82 to 86 with him here.

I hear ya. I worry when Philly Media says He is tough to deal with and Chip Kelly has had enough. I don't want another Holmes. No doubt Jackson is better than Holmes, but I mean attitude wise.

You have no point. Idzik has only done one draft for us. You can't project based on how Tanny, Bradway and other doofus GMs the Jets have had have drafted.

Stuckey wasn't on our team when we did Hard Knocks.

Moss was a great pick and Coles was great for us for many years
