I based my decision on being able to get Djax or Joseph with a third or later leaving the first round free. IMO Djax and Gilbert/Denard is a better option to me than Joseph and Lee/Cooks. Cooks is a younger Djax Gilbert/Denard is a younger Joseph Joseph is older and not even close to the difference maker Djax is soooo I still wouldn't go corner in the first round but if you look at it as the perspective that everyone assumes we go WR first round (with Djax we wont) the same assumption should be made of taking a CB in the first round in order to make the comparison correctly. That being said WR is a bigger need than corner so we could get Ebron to go with Djax where as if you take Joseph we will be going receiver first round. So really I guess what I am saying is Djax/Ebron and a second round corner sounds better to me than Joseph/Cooks or Lee plus a second round TE
guys think about this.... we get djax with our 3rd + buc's 4th then we sign mjd we are somehow able to draft ebron, if we don't we get Dennard/OBJ and troy nikolas/2nd round cb/Jordan Matthews we sign vick as a back-up Geno / Vick Desean Jackson Eric Decker Jeremy Kerley (???) OBJ Nelson Ebron/Troy Nikolas Cumerland MJD / Chris Johnson Chris Ivory Bilal Powell That is actually an offense...I don't know if Geno will be able to handle it though
tbh though I have mixed feelings about djax. it would mean idziks mentality of having an unselfish team is completely gone... so much for "rebuilding" through the draft right? but you don't come around a player like desean jackson very often, this would be the most prolific offense the jets have had in a while, almost a complete overhall of what last year was. in fact, with an offense like that I think it's even better than our defense
So basically your plan is to give up 2-3 picks and tie up about 30 mil for at least 3 years on 3 aging players in hopes that Geno might be able to handle it. Brilliant!
The FO wouldn't pursue Jackson if they thought that he'd be a poor match for the culture. Jackson's certainly performed well when he's been on the field. Could he become more of a model NFL citizen? Certainly. Does asking for more guaranteed money in the middle of a contract remind us of another former Jets player? Sure. And if we, as fans, have noted these issues, then so has Idzik and his staff. That being said, pairing Jackson with Decker and Kerley would make the offense far better than the past two years. Of course, that's all dependent upon the theory that the Jets' QB. whomever it ends up being, can get the ball outside .
I'm not even sure the Jets have inquired about him. This is all unnamed sources again at the moment. Idzik did say the Jets would pursue trades that helped the team in the conference call so maybe the Jets have talked to the Eagles already. If I was the GM and I was talking to people in other organizations and that info was blowing back in a negative way I'd be very hesitant to talk turkey with those guys again.
I think the whole idea of bringing in Jackson and Vick would be so that Rex could potentially have a decent offense to work with. Im not really opposed to making such drastic changes, only because it would really make things interesting for 2014. Having a guy like Vick would give the Jets a chance to win every single game, including the games we will play against the Packers, Broncos, Patriots, Lions, Bears, Chargers.
id like to have our own home grown superstar for once on offense if its possible… when was the last one……….
Keyshawn Johnson was a star receiver in 1998 and 1999. Chad would have been a superstar without the injuries.
I highly doubt Vick beats out Geno. Hes looked done for two years now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This orginization is incapable of drafting an offensive superstar, who's the last playmaker we had on offense that we drafted who was legit?zero in Rex Ryan era and none in Mangini era either as far as Rbs Tes and Wrs are concerned
If we can land D-Jax we are loving life! It would make the Decker signing genius. This means we will be drafting a CB with our 1st - Dennard, Gilbert or Roby
That's ok. One of TGG GMs thinks we can just give up a 5th for him. Another thinks we can get him for Sanchez and a 3rd and get a 5th back. No need to give up 2 picks. Heck, maybe they'll just give him to us.
lets be real here folks…our gm doesn't seem to want to pay any money on anyone…he values draft picks, yes he gave up a pick for ivory..but his contract was so small it was almost like getting a rookie….id be shocked if he traded for d- jax a. he'd have to give up a pick..b, he'd have to pay him.. c. don't know if he'd want to get a diva… idunno these are just some of my points… i love d-jax..but i really want a home grown player on our o that all of us can go crazy for…all of our favorite players have been corners the past few years haha.
This little nugget got me to thinking...when WAS the last time the NY Jets drafted a full blown STUD on offense. A guy WE drafted and set the league on fire...an impact guy that changed the game...a guy who did this for more than one year here or there.... Ryan era...? Mangini era??? OH HELL NO...you have to go a LOT farther back than that! It was disgusting...pure and simply disgusting. I almost puked it's sooo disgusting. IF...and I mean a HUGE IF you count Keyshawn Johnson you are only looking at EIGHTEEN years ago!! And he is debatable...he only has moderately better numbers than Wes Welker... Now...tack on another 15 years or so and you are in Al Toon and Freeman McNeil territory. And they are debatable as well. Talk about a track record of shit. Chad Pennington...never panned out. L. Coles...barely above average receiver...Santana Moss...did his best work in Washington. Cotchery...barely above average...it is flat out AMAZING how much this team, across multiple regimes and two owners, has blown monkey ass in drafting offensive talent. Sad...just sad....
