Pretty much if they cut bait after one year they will have paid him almost $12M. I have seen the guaranteed money anywhere from $11.98M to $15M so effectively as you said $16M for 2 years and $12M for 1.
Don't think he was worth that kind of money.

You don't think the Jets' interest in Vick is to be the Wild-Cat QB?

They will continue to run the wild-cat and Vick will be the person running it. He will play.

I personally do not want him, I do not want more QB controversy.

Here's one thing I absolutely love about Michael Vick.

When you look at a secondary like the one New England is building, they are focusing on the pass happy league we watch today. Signing a guy like Revis and Browner shows that they are looking to build a force in their secondary to counter the guys like Manning, Rodgers, and Brees. Here's where Michael Vick steps in. When you have a guy like Vick that has HUGE playmaking ability with his legs, now teams built such as New England, need to focus on stopping him instead of just stopping the pass. When Vick drops back, the likes of Darelle Revis and Browner can blanket the receivers all they like, but can their front seven stop Vick from making that big play with his legs?

This is where I think Vick is lethal especially when our rival is building a pass preventing secondary. Now, if New England had a front seven like the Sons of Anarchy, then yes, I would be worried. But I think this in part is a reason why Idzik and Co. are looking at Vick and gauging if he still has that "big play" ability in him.

I also think he will be a tremendous mentor for Geno Smith. Vick has seen the league and knows every crevice of it. Geno's game greatly resembles Vick's game and there is no better guy to help him learn. Vick wants a starting job just as every other player in the league does but if he doesn't beat out Geno then he knows he must mentor him. He just wants a chance to win the job. If he does we have a solid quarterback. If he doesn't, then Geno has taken the forward step and will make significant strides. It's a win win in my book.

Vick is not coming here to mentor anybody. IF he comes to New York, he's looking to win the starting job.
I'm not really into Vick being the starting QB for the Jets.
Lots of mileage and was too inconsistent.
    Can Marty save him?
Maybe, but who he is going to throw to?
He's not the Michael Vick of old, winning games by himself with Atlanta.
As of now, he's the guy who was beaten out by Nick Foles.

    Is Jetnation a competitor?
    What's the big deal?

Except Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers - maybe a couple others, no one was winning the QB job back from Foles the way he was playing.

No the interest is not for a wild cat QB. I'm sure they may have a couple plays for Vick but that will not be the reason for signing him. He will be Geno's mentor who can step in and play if needed.

Case closed my friend. I think the next couple of signing by the Jets will be a surprise to most of us, and probably names that never made the rumor mill.

Please no to Vick. I don't care if he knows Marty's system, he still made poor decisions on field and that still didn't save him from getting hurt as he usually does like clockwork every year. I'd rather them not spend money on someone whom is HIGHLY injury prone like Vick is.

Plus Vick is not going to any team to be a mentor, he's coming for the starting position, which he could very well beat out Geno. I just personally perfer they stay away from Vick.

I think Vick comes in and starts over Geno. The exceptions to that would be
    1) The Jets don't have a true competition and hand the job to Geno. This would be stupid IMO.
    2) Geno improved fundamentals tremendously in the offseason. This would be great.
    3) Vick is injured. This wouldn't be a shocker.

I highly doubt they want him as a wildcat QB. If that's the case I don't want him.

If Vick comes in its probably a 75% chance he is starting. 5% chance they give it to Geno and 20% chance he gets injured or isn't ready. Vick is by far the better QB when healthy and he's MM's guy. A healthy Vick with Ivory and some decent targets could really make this offense interesting.

If we sign Vick, I wonder if that gives us any more incentive to get DJax.

Vick to Jackson while wearing Green jerseys? That worked well before.
