+1 I have seen him on Sportscenter too, so he must be really good. Definitely worth 12 million a year, but hey what does Idzik know. He's just an accountant. Everyone here is obviously more qualified to run a team than he is. He's just a cap guy, he gave up an average CB to the giants for the same cost that we paid for Eric Decker. Uh oh, we're doomed. Our secondary is going to be worse than last year. Getting tired of these morons, either buy in or good cheer with the fair weather d-bag Giants fans.

I said at times Smith looked like the worst NFL Qb I have ever seen, meaning on the field, as a starting Qb. That is what I meant by saying over most of the season. I should have made more clear that I meant as a starter, but with that caveat, that is a very fair comment. Sorry if it was not clear enough.

The rest of your post is all about creating a straw man, saying I have said things I never said.

I never said last year's picks would not get better. You just pulled that out of your hiney hole.

Address the merits instead of crying like a baby. "Boo hoo, some fans here are saying mean things about the front office! Wah....."

Why DID Brian Winters start last year? Do you think it was the right move to let Slauson go for nothing, keep VD, and have it be a competition between him and Winters?

If Winters was not the worst starter on teh team, who was?

I am merely pointing out that those who give Idzik credit for picking five starters last year are setting a very low bar in describing success. The only pick he had last year who started on the merits was Richardson.

Try to stay on the merits. Please. I assume you are having a rough off season maintaining your usual and misplaced optimism, but I know you are not a complete fool.

Only green-speckled sheep would buy in to what he has done so far this offseason. The only deal he could close was for somebody who probably wanted to move his reality show to NY and the only thing he could think to say about the Jets was that he was intrigued.

He started poorly, having been picked with a pick obtained for Revis. He looked awful, benched three times. Yet I do think Rex and the CS know how to coach. In other words, if he succeeds more credit should go to the CS for that than Idzik. I did not say Idzik gets no credit. He can share in the credit. I just don't see any basis for looking at Milliner's performance overall last year as evidence that Idzik had a good draft, let alone a great one.

Your post goes hyperbolic toward the end there, as you probably realize this morning after having slept it off. But of course it is premature to give an overall grade for this off season before the draft. Perhaps the FO still makes moves to get some vets here at key positions, perhaps by trades since all the best FA talent is pretty much locked up elsewhere. Perhaps they have one of the great drafts in Jets history.

    Perhaps.

Ftr I do not believe in the conspiracy theories about Rex and Idzik. It is theoretically possible as you say, but there is far too little evidence to support such a notion.

The FO Homers are the ones here who say Idzik had a GREAT draft last year, are certain Idzik knows what he is doing, are the ones who say every other team who signed an FA this season overpaid (I assume meaning in the context of FA), that the articles coming out about dissension and doubts within the organization are all part of some press conspiracy,

And that even if the Jets suck this coming year, that is part of a great plan, too.

If that description does not apply to anyone here, they need not be a FO Hater, either.

I for one do not trust or engage in binary thinking. At least I try not to.

Comparing stats from that era to this is difficult, but ftr Smith threw for a higher interception rate than Nagle.

    Yes, Nagle was awful.

In some pretty good company, eh?

And that's before cutting Sanchez. If we did that today we would have the most cap space in the league, obviously we'd have to find a replacement for him which would eat up some but not much.

He also rushed for 6 tds. This qb needs to look, if nothing is there run. The future of the NFL is running qbs. We have one that is willing and able to run.

    The Jets are not
The future has been running Qbs since the 60's yet RW if you consider him a rushing Qb is the only one to have ever won a superbowl.

That is a very interesting theory. Do you know Eric personally? I never heard him say that to the media, so you must know something the rest of us don't. From what I have heard he's a great guy to have in the locker room, especially since we will be building our offense around young talent which we should obtain in the draft who will be around him constantly. Oh, he's also a pretty good WR and he got him for a good price. I am sure he has learned a thing or two about preparation from being around one of the best QB's ever. But hey, forget him. Let's pay an undersized, injury prone speedster/locker room cancer 12 million dollars a year. That would surely appease some of you.

Russell Wilson, Kapernack was runner up the year before that. Vick revolutionized "running qb"

Maybe Idzik has some grand scheme where he'd rollover some good amount of cap space to the following yr and make a splash in 2015 / load contracts there. Really don't know what to make of this inactivity.

I agree. There is a chance of a sign and trade type deal, but it's a very small chance since teams know that sooner or later both teams will cut them.

I think that "good price" will be determined once games start.

It will be interesting to see if he signs Vick during his visit this weekend.
