Instead of attacking you, I will try to show you a little respect, I do agree with you that he may not be a good HC, but to say he is not even a good DC I won't go there.

There are many good DC's that are not complete HC, lovie smith, wade Phillips, dick jauron.

Other than lovie, who actually got to a SB, the others just could not make the transition to HC, but that goes the same for many OC's who were given opportunities and for some reason could not make that transition.

Personally I know the jets are going to have a little tougher schedule but I'm not going crazy about the off season, I want to see what the finished product is when they start the season.

MM quoted Rex today in his Twitter feed about how the two key positions that can lose games for a team are Qb and Cb. Well we already know the first part is true. Because Rex stubbornly continued to play Mark Sanchez despite breakdowns two straight seasons and league leading turnovers (and worst QBR) the Jets lost games. And to me was the key cause of the team not making the playoffs. His defense way overrated. Regularly giving up big plays esp on 3rd and long. And with Tannenbaum basically drafting primarily for defense over team. Rex after Ls usually talked about his D and their stats not team.

Parcells and Bellishit of course but he only got there because of Brady, were it not for him Belli would have probably been fired and out of the league years ago or back as a DC at best.

Wait a sec here, peeps have been bitching that Stephen Hill is a bust. He was drafted in the second round, no? So the point is valid. Are you saying that only the first few picks can only be busts? That just isn't true.

Rex took a team that probably couldn't beat Don Bosco Prep and got to 8-8 in the NFL. If you can't see he has been coaching up the talent he has by now, I'm not sure what to tell you. Eric Smith was a starting safety - and a contributor - for this team for multiple years. He's currently waiting on tables at TGIFs. That's just one example of getting more out the player due to the system, than the individual player itself.

The last thing you want in an HC is for him to disregard his strength and focus on his weakness.

Eric Smith won 4 road playoff games. How many playoff games has Jairus Byrd won?

Who was Ryan supposed to play at QB that was going to make a difference in 2011 and 2012?

Hill has also had a couple of years to put it together where Geno has only had 1.
I'm just speaking for myself here but I can't possibly label someone a bust after only 1 year, so maybe that's what he meant.

People wonder why the IQ of this Message board has deteriorated over the years.

While Rex has his faults, he's not the entire problem of the Jet's current situation. In fact, Rex was the glue that held together 2013's team. The player's didn't quit on Rex and overachieved with a lousy team. Rex is in a different situation, Idzik is making the calls and Rex has some input but a lot less than when Tanny was running the show. Tanny has ruined our current roster with bad FA signings, questionable draft trades, and terrible contracts....Idzik is in clean up mode and approaching it from a proper prospective.

I understand the NFL is a win now league, but the amount of idiots (Media & Fans) I've witnessed in the past week since the start of Free agency is astounding. The Media and Fans are to blame for the panic created by the Jet's management decisions. The world is different, everyone is into instant self gratification, I want it now, fuck everything else. The Media, Internet, Technology are the creators of causing a world we live in of instant results. Free Agency high rollers that sign day one, are almost always losers and never become a successful program.

The NFL year has just begun, we have the draft, players will be released that the Jets could be interested in, people just need to understand the entire process.

Denver and NE were big time players in the first couple of days, do you really think they are going to be losers because of that?

Look at FA over the years, most teams regret the big signings and it hasn't worked out. Teams trying to rebuild, like the Jets, fail in big FA signings....Denver and NE are established , by smart management decisions, they spent to win the big one on their short windows with Manning & Brady.

I don't think their signings are going to make their teams better in the long term. Revis will help the Pats for 1 year, than he will be cut and sign with someone else....cause he ain't getting 20 Mill from Kraft.

They will worry about next year next year when the cap grows even higher. There is a lot of money for the owners to make when they get to the playoffs and that is what they are trying to make sure they do.

Idzik is trying to build this team for the long term, signing bigger FA's with bad contracts hurts the building process and the long term future.

Revis is a money grubbing player, he will go where the $ is next year.
