Agree bout it wasn't a perfect draft. I remember that stupid pick being done to keep sanchez happy and in the book I read caused quite a rift between rex and the rest of the staff.
I've been following the draft for too many years to remember, it's not worth getting worked up about a 7th rd pick, very few ever contribute. Hope can be a good thing, but not on a 7th rounder.
I'm not worked up.. I forget who brought it up, was more of a moral issue. Might have been pettine basically said allot of other kids deserved to hear there name called. He was annoyed they picked a kid they could have gotten 5 days after he draft just cause of his relationship with sanchez. But to your point I have no expectations for anyone picked that late.
Lmao! Geno worst graded starter. Bohannan worst graded FB. Winters and Milliner bottom of the list grades. And an awesome DT that we didn't need. I swear most of these homers would praise Idzik no matter what he did.
Easy.... You would be surprised how upset people got I referenced bohannan as sub par. really just me letting the idzick cult know, he(idzick) is a moron. No offense to bohannan. Be prepared for the wrath my friend. Lol bohannan has a following on here.
Wait are you comparing the Patriots to the Jets in 2014? Hahahahha That's gotta be one of the funniest things I have ever heard.
These guys were abysmal. Go back and look at my posts from draft day. I was beside myself that they picked these bums bc I actually watch college and it was a no brained that Milliner and Geno were busts in waiting.
The more I read this board the more I become convinced that if you don't join the circle jerk on John Idzik, you will be called a downer, and someone who over reacts. I used to read this same nonsensical support of Terry Bradway for years lol. Anyway, I'm not giving up on Idzik but clearly he has been a deer in headlights. But all those participating in the circle jerk will simply say that all the damaging reports from various outlets are "wrong", "fabricated", or even better "made up". Smart as it gets. As they continue to grease up. And for anyone who thinks all this money is a good thing bc now we can lock up Mo Wilk. I hope you are all right but I have doubts about a GM who refuses to budge an "inch" trying to hammer out a long term contract with an elite player at a prime position. Im sure Idzik will not think he is worth it. Unfortunately, im mentally preparing myself for Mo Wilk to be a 2016 New Eng Patriot, bc Idzik and his approach cannot be trusted to "negotiate". Oh and trust me.... Mo Wilk is going to be very .... very expensive.
Ahh, yes. The superbowl free agency.. Let's spin the clock back a year, shall we? Miami Dolphins? Or maybe two years, the Philadelphia Eagles? Do you see where I'm going with this?? We will draft the BPA.. If it fills one of our needs -- amazing. If not, we can sign a veteran or low risk high reward type player after the draft. Everyone needs to relax.
The team graded out better in '13 than '12, 8-8 as opposed to 6-10. Everything else can go hang. Idzik hasn't done enough to be judged yet. I knew Tannenbaum sucked for sure when he traded for Favre two years after he became GM. Idzik hasn't defined himself yet, only to the extent that the emphasis will be on the draft. That's fine with me. Stockpile.
LOL. That tackle "we didn't need" will likely be a big part of the team having one of the most fearsome defensive lines in the NFL for years to come. What team doesn't need that?
Idzik is looking pretty weak so far. I know I've said it already but FA is a great way to shore up an o-line. Why are we making no moves?
I wouldn't say Idzik is terrible or should be fired or anything like that. He needs time to put his plan in place. I do, however, question his failure to lock up a CB long term which means we now either go into the season with an even worse secondary (somehow) or we burn some high draft picks gambling on them coming in and being contributors now and in the future. Personally I don't think he's being financially shrewd, I think he's being cheap. We basically had one high-ish profile free agent and he let him walk. Like heartpumpsgreen said: What if it was Mo Wilk that Idzik drew a line in the sand with? He already exercised the option on him instead of giving him a big pay day now when he has piles of cap room. Now maybe that was what Mo wanted because he thinks he'll earn more down the road or maybe it is just temporary and they will work out a long term deal...but maybe not. Maybe Mo Wilk will get special treatment because of his status but what about other guys are maybe second tier guys but are still important to the team? Even not from our own guys point of view but he's probably scared off future free agents in general as they now know he can be kind of cheap and at least with DRC there was talk that his demand did not match his recruitment strategy. I think there is definitely a lot of legitimate concerns with Idzik. Will it work out in the long run? Maybe. Will the next year or two be painful and he'll build a competitive team for years to come through the draft? Maybe. But there's also the chance that he flames out in a few years and we're back to square one.
