Idzik would be laughed at if he was shopping Sanchez. Teams would either wait until he's released or just take their chances in the draft. IMO the Jets should hold onto him and see how he competes with Geno.
"They want you to cook the dinner; at least they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries. Okay?" -Parcells
Wait what? Idzik threw away last years draft? I didnt know... Sheldon was a great pick.. Milliner is about to be forced to show us he was a great pick.. Ima WVU fan so i like the geno pick in round 2 that could be a low key steal f he pans out.. Without last years first rd picks we'd be fucked
Quite a coincidence that any reporter that writes or says anything that can be construed as the least bit negative about the Jets organization is a lying no talent hack. If not coincidence, must be a conspiracy. I'll start distributing green tin foil hats.
He's DELIBERATE, not lazy. And it's about damn time there was sanity in the building. We Jets fans should know how overrated free agent signings can be. I like Idzik so far.
This is a great point. If you're John Idzik and you spent the 9 pick on a CB last year you really want that guy to get thrown in the fire and hopefully prove out. You can't keep throwing picks and cap space at a new CB every season. You need to get an answer on the guy you got last year.
Which is why im not to favoring of bringing cro back esp after his headaches last year.. But If we do bring em back id like to put him at #2 .
I don't think the Raiders would laugh at it, but, yeah I don't think that's the route to go down. If a team approaches the Jets with an early first round pick or something, then I would do it. But I think the roster bonus should be paid, it would be a mistake to let him go for nothing, especially when he might be the best QB on our roster. Anyway, I think Sanchez is better for the Jets than Vick (I changed my mind on that) and I think he should stay after a pay cut. He should be flexible about a pay cut once the roster bonus is paid, as long as they're serious about letting him compete to be the starter (which they should be, if he ends up being better.)
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...ny-jets-not-pushing-to-sign-antonio-cromartie ESPN did a piece on Idzik's inactivity, and how he seems to be working at a "snail's pace". Nobody can understand how Idzik can go into free agency with a ton of cap space and the team ends up looking WORSE on paper than before! smh
Cause hes an accountant not a gm. i cant wait to watch this when i get home. should have my misplaced rage even higher. lol
Way too much instant gratification being asked for here. People just want to see action. The Jets are not a contender, and Idzik isn't deluding himself into thinking that they are one. Therefore, there isn't a series of free agent signings that Idzik could have made to make this team a legitimate superbowl threat. If we were the darlings of FA this year, we maybe win one more game. 9 instead of 8, or 8 instead of 7. We still wouldn't stand a chance in hell at winning a championship, and would stand a big chance at having many of our signings be dead weight by the time this team had the potential to be one. The Jets need to look at 2 types of players. Players young and skilled enough to where they are likely to perform throughout the duration of their long term contracts. 27 year old Decker fits that bill, and most players in the league don't. And short term boom or bust deals that will be off the books soon. Few deals fall into those categories right now, and there are always short term deals available later in June and before camp. The hardest part of being a general manager is acknowledging what stage of development your team is in, and acting accordingly. Many GM's (and fans) like to believe that their team is much further along than they are, and want to see the team be supplemented by big moves to put them over the top. When you're nowhere near "the top" all those big moves do is tie up money for later along when you might actually be close to building a contender. Look at the buzz about DRC. Would he make us better? Yes. Would he make us a contender? Not close. Is there a good chance that his money would be absolute dead weight before his deal is halfway done? Given that the dude was almost out of football not too long ago, I'll let anyone else feel free to conclude that.
He will ...........when he has time..........its like my grandmother taking 10 minutes to walk to the door when I'm knocking on it
This kind of homeristic post is laughable. Yes, Richardson was a great pic, but he's also the third DL first round pick in the last few drafts. It is in any event reported that Richardson was not Idzik's choice. Milliner arrived in very bad shape for the ninth pick of the draft. He was in any event chosen to replace Revis, and while trading Revis was Woody, I don't understand the notion that in effect trading Revis for Milliner was an upgrade (the answer is not that Revis had to be traded, for reasons covered extensively last off season.) The issue is how to rate a first round pick the Jets only got by trading their best player. As for Smith, he was one of the worst Qb's I have ever seen play in the NFL for much of the season. What little improvement we saw at the very end I give Marty credit for, not Idzik. Out of the box he as awful. As for those other starters... Winters? Yes, he was a starter. Probably the worst starter on the team all last year. Why do the FO Homers here want to talk about draft picks starting when the only reason they were starting is because there was no one better on the roster? Before Idzik arrived the Jets had an LG named Matt Slauson, who Idzik let go for peanuts. Was Winter replacing Slauson an upgrade? Of coures not. Bohannon was technically a starter, but he did not get much time on the field. FO Homers who count him as a big plus are not being serious. As for those pre-season predictions of an awful 2013 season for the Jets, alot of that was based on the expectation that there would be a huge Qb controversy on the team, which there was not once Sanchez went out. Opponents were also in some cases overrated, like TB and Atlanta, both of whom sucked against everyone, not just the Jets. And the Jets were awful in the point differential stat, so the 8-8 record is not all it is seen as by the FO Homers.
Ftr I am hopeful Milliner will better play up to his draft status this coming season. If he does the credit for that goes more to the CS than Idzik. Out of the box, he was awful.
