I would love to be a fly on the wall of the room where they are discussing Ras I Dowling as starting corner,it would be the funneyst thing

If Ras-I Dowling is graded a 6 out of 10 and DRC was graded an 8 out of 10, is 8 million dollars worth it to improve the CB position by 2 letter grades?

That's the way Idzik is looking at things.

We had the same conversations about Ras-I for 2011 and 2012 over at Patsfans. The fat that he's on another team now should tell you how well he's worked out.

That's what he meant. Cimini wrote about that when he got cut. 146 catches in 4 years.

And Browner went from the Broncos to the CFL to the Seahawks and played at a high level. What's your point again?

Holmes renegotiated to get down to $7.5M last year. That was the amount he was capped at by the contract he signed if he moved to another team since any amount over that would revert to the Jets. He chose to take the pay cut and stay with the Jets because it gave him access to the Jets rehab facilities while he was recovering from surgery and it gave him the best chance to actually hit the field in 2013.

That was a masterful renegotiation on the Jets part. They had $7.5M in guarantees due to Holmes on an $11M contract and they paid $7.5M to him for the year.

yes, and any article written about a GM is not a good thing, especially one talking about him being inflexible. Of course there will always be those who thinks that's good.

Any other poster in fairness would not make up that it is merely a lack of action so far in FA. How about all the holes that are in the team? They existed before, and are still there. You need to stop making crap up.

As for your second paragraph, it is not an either/or choice. How about Smith improves, but not enough to make up for other lackings? What about another Qb on the team? It's not purely about Smith.

Of course if Smith is the starter, I do think it becomes a rebuilding year.

hahah dude, they already won a superbowl and youre saying trouble starts in 2-3 years....so they could win 2, maybe 3 ( doubt it) superbowls in 4 years---NO ONE WILL CARE IF THERES CAP TROUBLE AFTER THAT. We've had countless years with cap trouble but no SB to make it all feel better

If anyone has NFL radio on Sirius you should put it on. They are blasting Mehta and all the panicked fans.

The article seems like a Jets insider explaining Idzik's methods.
