When I did the list the reports said we had agreed to a deal with pettingrew but now that we haven't. Finley, Keller, Winslow, Daniels are all options none can stay healthy though

Honestly I'm okay if the Jets resigned Winslow. Then on draft day they draft Lee or Evans in round 1. To me the wildcard is Hill. If he can develop into a contributor, meanwhile Kerley/Nelson/Decker is a solid receiving corp. And Cumberland/Winslow is a solid TE duo. That way the rookie can develop at his own pace and you essentially give Hill an opportunity in his 3rd year to be a contributor on offense. If Hill stinks you replace him next offseason and you can draft or sign his replacement.

If Hill becomes solid we'd be set at receiver with Kerley/Nelson/Decker/Hill/Evans or Lee.

If Hill sucks we can sign a player next year in free agency or we can take a flyer on a 2nd/3rd round guy.

As for TE Winslow is not that old I believe he's 30/31 years old and Cumberland is 25/26. We have Sudfeld as our developmental guy, next season is Sudfeld's opportunity. If he steps up he can become our number 2 TE and we can draft a guy next year. And move on from Winslow.

The best tight ends would be Ebron, Amaro,ASJ, and Nickolas all will be gone by round 2. Hopefully we snag one, although Ebron is in a class of his own.

Give me Willie Colon and Uche Nwaneri at guard, Chris Clemons/Thomas DeCoud at safety, MJD, Pace, and James Jones. All of these guys should still be in play for us

We can still fill some needs, I'd like to grab these guys
    WR- James Jones
TE- draft with fallback being Winslow
    OG - Colon
    OLB - Pace or Harrison
CB - DRC, somebody on vet min
    Safety- Clemons

I'm not worried at this point, even though I was disappointed that we didn't sign Scott Chandler. I think he would have been a "big" addition, literally. Ed Dickson is still out there, and I'm sure there will be other camp cuts at TE. Sign one of them and if the Jets could grab ASJ, Niklas or Fiedorowicz and I think they'd be more than fine at TE.

What? Do you mean they'll be gone by the Jets pick in the 2nd round? If so, then I agree. If you mean they'll all be drafted in the 1st round, I don't think there's any way that all 4 of those TEs go in the 1st round. Even if they do, there's still Fiedorowicz. He's a good blocker and has soft hands and is huge. There are some good middle and low round prospects in Crockett Gilmore and Marcel Jensen and maybe 1-2 more as well.

at this point it may be easier to tout positions that we do NOT need players. i can only think of DL.

Guess I didn't word it right. I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks 4 tight ends will go first round. I'd say a max of 2 could possibly go first round. Ebron is a lock.

OK, I agree with that. I think Amaro will probably go late 1st. I'd love it if the Jets added either ASJ, Niklas or Fiedorowicz. If they can, I think our TEs will be better than ok.

Wasn't really ticked like most fans until now. DRC and Jones off the board. Cb and Wr looking very thin

Clemons is the only potential FA signing I'd get excited about left on the market.

aside from that, maybe re-sign Colon and Cromartie, and hope they can offer another year of decent play.
QB's maybe Hill or Fitzpatrick, although neither offer much upside.
For TE, might have to take a shot at one of those broken down players and hope they can stay healthy for 16 games.
we're essentially down to depth signing options.. I'd grade Idzik around a D so far this FA. Maybe he can salvage a C grade with some shrewd late signings. we'll see..

Russell Wilson seemed to develop just fine tossing 1, maybe 2, designed rollout passes per game to Zach Miller and Luke Wilsson.

There's nothing Idzik can do at this point to earn a better grade for free agency this year with all this cap space I give him an F

I notice that the Cowboys picked up Weeden after he was cut by the Browns. Hm. I would think Dallas is one team well positioned to draft a Qb, not necessarily a first rounder, and wonder if this move might actually indicate it is in that direction. Again, the logic is that Romo is starting to appear injury prone, is most likely not going to have many more years to play, and Orton is only two years younger than him.

The smart move is for Dallas to trade Orton, draft a Qb to develop, and rely on Weeden as a vet backup for Romo.

Think about it - why pick up Weeden except for that scenario? He's not nearly as good as Orton. Meanwhile there I recall was some rumor that Dallas might actually move on from Romo, but for this year that does not make sense, either, and they have not done anything to make that move.

With a creaky and aging Romo as your starter, the time is right for Dallas to draft a Qb, and Weeden rounds out the roster. That leaves Orton to be traded.

Orton to the Jets would be an instant upgrade, and could save Idzik's off season.

Which is why it probably won't happen.

Trading for Kyle Orton (who would be a backup) would save the off season? I've heard everything now.

I think the Cowboys signed Weeden as a 3rd string option, and to see if he can eventually grow into a good 2nd string option.
It's a depth move, and is only dramatized because its the Cowboys.

So i don't think they are moving on from Orton this year.
If they somehow did move on, it wouldn't be until during the draft. I don't think we can wait that long, although i would love to add Orton.

And I hope it doesn't. IMO you severely overrate Orton's ability. I don't like his play and never have. I'd rather keep Sanchez than have Orton, and that's saying a LOT!

Anyone who thinks Sanchez is better than Orton does not know much about football.

    Learn the game.

I am definitely not a Sanchez fan and believe the Jets are best off by moving him but your comment (and similar comments by others) is ridiculous. If someone's opinion does not align with your own, your declaration without explanation does absolutely nothing to advance yours, in fact it diminishes it.
