The 2 hardest positions in the NFL to come in and play right away as a rookie are CB & QB. You can't say that they are failures after 1 season. Hell, it took Drew Brees 3 seasons and the Chargers drafting a QB #1 overall to finally step his game up. Look what he's done since (HOF career).

Was thinkin that too, but if were gonna take that chance it might as well be on Cro who knows the system and is a leader already (also was good in 11/12). If Cro goes to Zona, then it'd probably have to be C Rogers imo.

Well ... you did leave out that his other first round pick was rookie of the year ... and that Millner played very well the last couple weeks of the season.

Asamoah is extremely overrated around here, even when he got healthy he couldn't win his job back from Schwartz, honestly the Free agency market is as weak as I've seen in recent memory besides a few standouts. Not too many immediate impact players and the ones that are have smart agents who are going with the money. Idzik seems to be looking for a certain mentality in the players hes signing from what I can tell based on his long dinners and what not spent with the visiting players.

At this point our roster is extremely young and definitely talented, recent signings suggest hes trying to mold that talent with a winning attitude why else rush to sign players that were recently in the Superbowl and make it a priority signing. A championship mentality goes a long way when it comes to changing the culture in a locker room.

wait hold on, focussing on this part of the post, I have a question... why the hell is THIS YEAR so important?

this year alone will tell wether or not the team contends for a long time?

Theres nothing particularly special about this offseason over others in the future to make me think this is a make or break moment for the jets in the long run, not in terms of signing free agents anyhow.

I think this is the problem, we're putting FAR too much stock into what this last week has meant for the team. this isn't that big a deal. there could have been more moves made sure, ones that could of worked out great or maybe have been awful, but why so dramatic jets fans? There WILL be other opportunities to improve the team, don't get your respective panties in a bunch because idzik didn't think differently enough form that idea to warrant making splash signings this year.

This right here is why I don't want the Jets signing another receiver. I feel that Hill is the wildcard. Kerley/Nelson/Decker is solid but Hill would put us over the top, plus if we draft a receiver he can develop at his own pace.

Not bloody likely imo. Rex loves him some CBs. Newsome told Tanny as much, and we have seen it in action.

Exactly. Idzik is trying to sure up the core foundation of the team through reasonable FAs & the draft. When we're at a point where a couple of FAs can put us over the top, I hope he'll spend the money. Revis, DRC, Howard, Nicks would not have elevated us out of mediocrity this season. We're at least a season or two away from being legit contenders. Everything Idzik is doing is with an eye on 2015-2016.

eh... best not to reject somebody for the thought that stephen Hill might pan out. Boy would that be something, but lets not bet on that happening.

Just curious, would you have said the same thing going into the 2009 season? In regards to being a few years away? Becasuse that team came within one good half of football from making the super bowl.

There's no such thing as rebuilding anymore. You ppl are stubborn. Like Idzik lol. This has been proven.

Multiple news outlets are reporting a growing frustration with Idzik at Florham Park,I don't like the mess that this could end up creating.Rex is apparently furious and its starting to seem to me that Idzik is setting Ryan up to fail so he can fire him, isn't it becoming obvious at this point?

Give me Davin Joseph now please! I think he would be a great 2-3 year signing while our younger guys develope. Front load the deal with no dead money in the third and let's roll!

I'm not sold on Colon coming back heathy and mistake free this offseason on a one year deal. Campbell can't be close to ready, could he? We sure as shit ant starting Vlad at RG, are we? The way I see it is, we need to make a fucking play here on a RG. Spend some of this cash on another starter (ill take Carlos Rodgers on a 1-2 year deal as well).

let's build depth and competition through the draft.

There are many unnamed quotes coming out of the Jets complex. Let's see, Rex is "pissed", Idzik is too tough, He upped the offer when the Giants got involved etc. By now we all know that the GM will keep quiet and neither confirm nor deny any speculation. It may frustrate some fans and, of course, drive the media crazy but he will do it his way. The circus has left town.

well, Revis would be Revis, that'd take the pressure of Dee right well and good, but that gold digger wasn't coming our way anyhow.

the others would give us marginal gains at best. nicks was looking for a one years deal, no value to the jets anyhow.

Seems like I'm one of the few that actually keep up with the Jets besides the shit you usually spew.
