My point is that the fans complained about Revis being all about money and not being loyal to the Jets. So why should he be loyal when at the end of the day the team will discard of him when they no longer has any use for him. Cromartie showed loyalty and the team didn't care about that because cutting him was in the Jets best interest. Yet fans are upset at Revis for doing things that are to his best interest. That's my point.
just saw a report that "several teams" are showing interest in Willie Colon. I guess this means we could kiss him goodbye too. If ever Idzik has to out negotiate another GM to acquire a player, we are doomed. LOL
Via Andrew Brandt Am told Jets wanted a "prove it" deal for DRC: $6M this year with options after. Level of offer didn't match zeal of recruiting.
LOL good one. I dig the sarcasm. However, the fun of participating in a fan message board is the differing views and opinions. Certainly, you are not advocating for a cyber circle jerk on how all of the moves will work out and we have to be patient and give the guy a chance. No sorry, I have opinions, and I think that the jury is out, but I am quite alarmed by Idzik's shenanigans early on. The fact that we will always be out bid by other GMs when a coveted player is available .. well that kinda sucks. Teams aren't built through FA, but they are solidified. Marshawn Lynch, Cliff Avril, Sidney Rice, were key contributors for SB team last season that were no drafted. You don't have to break the bank but you gotta make moves.
I hope this isn't true because it shows indecision on Idzik's part. If he wanted him make a competitive offer. And sign him before he visits the Giants. I wasn't in favor of signing him because of the financial commitment. Not sure how true this is but if true doesn't make Idzik look good.
if true, well there ya go, they weren't sold on him much at all apparently. still waiting on what the giants pay him the next 3 years.
He's probably one of the last corners I would go after. SF wanted to cut him like 2 seasons ago but kept him for some reason
I want Colon back but we did draft 3 olinemen last year. I'm sure one of them has to be ready to step in right? I hope so. I'm looking at William Campbell.
lol so one guy has us making some last-ditch monster offer and another guy has us offering him confederate two-dollar bills...the media can go scratch sometimes.
you still want a proven option aboard. the hope is that Campbell was learning enough about how to play the position last year to step up at RG, and that Winters progresses as well, but there should be another option besides those guys. hell they can pick a G from later in the draft if they like.
On the contrary, he was the best corner left with an unexpectedly large number of corner-needy teams left. It may have helped him by being prudent, or, if it didn't help, it didn't hurt him as it would in past years. Usually all of the needy teams fill their need early. Giants, Jets, Browns, and Raiders all had the money, or in the Giants case, the ability to make the money, to sign him so he still had options and leverage. Ultimately, Antrelle Rolle was probably the deciding factor, he's one of DRC's best friends and the Giants media/DRC/Rolle himself all admitting that he made one hell of a sales pitch to his buddy to go along with the Giants financial backing.
If Idzik wants to pretend he's Pete Carroll fine. If he wants to exclusively build through the draft, fine. If he wants to take an overly conservative approach, fine. But if that is the case he should be tied to the fate of Geno and Milliner. He traded the best player on the team and replaced him with Milliner who was mostly awful. He then picked up a sure fire disaster in Geno. He picked both of them, and they have been abysmal. If 2 of your top 3 picks in your first draft are terrible after year two, and your "plan" is the be a draft guy, you should be fired.
When FA started I thought he was going to be paid highly. But then most other corners went and it felt like DRC value was dropping for whatever reason.
I agree but I wasn't comfortable with our safety situation last year but Antonio Allen emerged and stepped up. I think we'll draft an o lineman and we'll either bring back Colon (I hope) or take a flyer on another vet olineman.
I thought so too, and every other year you're probably right, but there were at least 4 teams bidding for him, it left the cards in his hands. Usually by this point he'd be the odd man out and forced to settle for less after missing the initial hype train.
Aha, so it's about fan's perception. Ok that makes more sense. In this case, recall that Jets played by contract re Cro. Revis held out twice despite being given heavily front-loaded contract. Could it be that fans are shutting on Revis because Revis shitted on Jets first?
How much would it take in a trade to get Morris Claiborne from Dallas? I'm not too sure how good or bad he's been but I remember him playing well in 2012 then in 2013 the scheme changed and he got worse...
He's had injuries and from what I know, he's not even played close to his draft selection. Only thing I saw him do was intercept Manning, then get burned on a touchdown right after.
It's business right? Players know that this is a business. Getting cut or traded is apart of being a professional athlete. So it should be understood that the players that holdout want to get as much as they can while they can. Because the career of an NFL player is short.
