I don't consider myself a pessimist. There are valid concerns going on here. Years ago there was another Jets board (Jets Confidential) that I was very active on ... When Terry Bradway was running the show, a majority of fans were throwing roses at his feet for the acquisitions of Doug Jolley, Justin McCareins, Mike Nugent, Kellen Clemens, Justin Miller, Dwayne Robertson, fumbling away Coles in his prime, replacing him with Curtis Conway, trading Santana Moss for garbage, etc etc ... I was accused of being a pessimist then too, years later, we all saw how that story ended.

Hey I know he is still relatively knew, but this offseason brings red flags, and the news/leaks out of Florham Park that Jets staffers think Idzik is unprofessional, and does things on his own time, etc. Won't negotiate an "inch" with free agents at the bargaining table ... this is alarming folks. Being able to negotiate is a prime trait a GM must possess to get deals done.

And ppl who slam Manish, and accuse him of "making up sources and stories".. I dont mean this in an offensive way at all, but you guys have NO idea how journalism works. He gives up his sources to his editor. He must before he puts anything out there. Its a rule, not etiquette. IF he were to get caught "making up" sources, then his whole career would be gone in a second. NOBODY would risk their journalism career to make up sources. What he says is credible. Now if his predictions have gone wrong, he is getting bad info, clearly, and I'm SURE that is by design. But if he writes that staffers are alrready getting frustrated working with Idzik, that Rex is "pissed", etc .. you MUST assume he's telling the truth. And FYI ... Brian Costello recently tweeted something similar, about reputation going around that he won't negotiate an inch, and this is viewed as highly negative.

This is all bad news, but I am not all doom and gloom. All I'm saying is this ...

He BETTER turn out to be a mastermind drafter. And BETTER be brilliant at retaining his own premier players. If the shit hits the fan and we see are secondary get roasted and toasted all season long, then his feet would and SHOULD be held to the fire. He would have shit the bed. Clearly ...

$7 million per for a CB of DRC's abilities is NOT being overpaid. Even at age 28 with $15 mil guaranteed, that's basically two seasons and the Jets could have cut him. That's not unreasonable imo at all.

I respect that loyalty. Huge fan of Cro I hope he has a rebound year and sticks it to detractors.

The only question about Cro is his hip. 2014 could be a rebound year for him if he's at all healthy. Sign him to a one year deal with incentives unless they think he can't play.

I've been saying that about Manish forever, people attack him for no reason.Jets fans think for some reason that an employee for one of the biggest newspapers in the world is just gonna make up stories,it doesn't work that way

Not really. If there is no progress within 4 or 5 years then there is cause for concern. At least lets see how things play out first.

And then fans wonder why Revis showed no loyalty to the Jets. Here is a guy in Cro that busts his ass for us and plays hurt and give it his all. And what do we do. We cut him in order to bring in "better" players. Now where did Cro's loyalty get him?

They were a game out of being a playoff team last year. Turnarounds can happen really quickly in the NFL. Why does he need a three-year plan? Depending on Geno's development, this team could have been a SB contender THIS YEAR with some wise FA acquisitions but it's felt like Idzik's been asleep at the wheel.

I love that when you google "Manish Mehta" the three of the first four links that come up (the fourth being his Twitter page) are titled ...

    1. Plaxico Burris accuses Manish Mehta of making up a story,
    2. Evolution of a douchebag - Manish Mehta, and
    3. Craig Carton calls out Manish Mehta on "unnamed sources"

True, we were competitive last year but it doesn't mean we have to deviate from our plans.

Ian Rappaport on NFL Network just said that the Jets came in at the last minute with a significantly larger deal than the Giants were offering, but it was too late because DRC had agreed with the Giants and bought into their plan. I'm not sure what this means...Rappaport also said the Giants tried much harder than we did to get him. And then we try to make a last minute offer but it didn't work out...

yea, that was more rhetorical, also, both of them have dealt with alot of missed games due to injury, further diminishing their bang for buck.

This would be the ultimate facepalm moment. I'm not even sure DRC would have been worth 'significantly more' than what the Giants gave him anyway. Maybe we had another Plan A but that fell through so we got desperate.

But my big problem with Idzik vis-a-vis CB is what on earth was the sense of cutting Cro in the first place if we didn't have a replacement lined up?
