We have a major cornerback crisis in florham park. If you dont realize that youre in denial. You'll see. Losing DRC was mega huge. No other way to spin it. No quality left. This offseason has been Idzik's butt fumble. An embarrassment. NY team with $30m in cap room and we whiff all day. And i brought this up before ... how do they spend that money now. Idzik probably wants to whack off to his cap room. Big deal. Meanwhile some Idzik apologists said previously that if DRC signed for 9-10 mill than they didnt want him but less than 8 would be upsetting. Well he signed for $8m per ... a fair price for an upper tier cover corner. Plus now word is starting to come out about Idzik's unprofessional approach and refusal to negotiate. This is nad news ppl it sets poor precedence. Ppl wont even want to come to the table in the future if this holds true .... watch.
If we don't give an undeserving player a multi-year Tanny-esque contract soon, I think I'm going to kill myself. I'm thinking Asante Samuel, 5 years @ 74 million guaranteed for skill and parking lot masturbation.
It will be hard for curtis granderson to strike out as much this year as Idzik has in this free agency period.
Does this site have moderators, or does the same nonsense get posted by the same posters over and over again?
Rebuilding is mainly using the draft, not frivolously spending money, developing young talent and cheap veterans to plug holes. Therefore a young corner on the team will get an opportunity, one of the young oline guys will get a shot, Geno will get another year of development. Cumberland will get a shot as the number 1 TE. We'll add talent through the draft and go from there.
No it isn't. It may be people who do it for a living, but they're all media people unless you have a pipeline to NFL scouts and GMs that we don't know about. The "experts" in the media like Tony Pauline, Helmet Hair (Mel Kiper), those on the NFL network, ESPN, CBS Sports, FoxSports, the so-called scouting services, and others are wrong as much as they are right.
Heart, you need to take a few deep breaths. You've only posted 80 times on this board and you're already one of the most pessimistic fans we have. Anyway, if Idzik has already buttfumbled this season away, why don't you start the annual "WE MUST FIRE ____" thread?
True. I'll probably relax in a few hours. Just worried about wide receivers leaving kyle wilson in the dust on the way to the end zone next year time and time again.
Well, imo DRC's signing is evidence of one of several possibilities. One, Idzik thinks Rex is too obsessed with CBs, and this is his way of either forcing Rex to alter his approach/philosophy regarding D (or to force Rex to want to quit). Two, Idzik is too cheap and his valuation system for FAs is way off. Three, Idzik is an ass and is turning players and/or their agents off. Four, that Idzik's in over his head. Five, that Woody gave Idzik permission to build the team slowly over a 3-4 year period via the draft. Six, that Idzik is planning on taking a CB in round 1. Gird up your loins Jets fans, I'd be willing to bet that it's #6.
Maybe I'm trying to be optimistic, but Idzik doesn't want to dole out money for guys over 28. Giacomini and Decker were needs and are 27/28 but are from superbowl contending teams. DRC made it clear that he would retire if the Broncos won the super bowl...well they didn't, they got completely blown out and how do you trust a guy that's got that kind of attitude? We saw what happened with Cromarite, he's going on 30 and was the worst corner in the league after signing a 8 mil a year contract. Idzik wants homegrown youth and that is about it. We knew WR was our biggest need so we got a big, competent target in Decker. Yes, we need a guard but we will get one. How many more games do we win last year if we had Decker on the team? I would say at least 2, and that would have put us in the playoffs. Now we have this deep draft to choose who our future is going to be.
Maybe it's the guaranteed $s that is the problem. That's reportedly where Idzik drew the "line in the sand" with Howard. I'm thinking he's trying to sign the FAs to incentive-laden contracts, and none of them are having it. They want guaranteed $s. If so, then Houston we have a problem. Either Idzik's going to have to learn to budge and be more flexible in negotiations, or we can forget ever doing much in FA and we're talking about building only through the draft.
I'm pretty pissed off at the moment. How did we not get DRC? And we lost James Jones? I know you build through the draft, but if we underperform following this offseason, Izdik better be prepared to get nuclear heat on him.
