Well we will all get to analyze it 5000 more times on whatever day it is between today and the 25th that he gets cut.
6 more days until he is cut. I am so excited to get rid of that fucking waste of a Top 5 pick. He is our Joey Harrington/Ryan Leaf/Akili Smith hybrid.
1. Matt McGloin isn't any worse than Sanchez. So I'd rather bring in McGloin than to go back to Sanchez. 2. There are no Tebow like players in the league every QB in the league is NFL caliber. Obviously at varying levels. Tebow was not an NFL caliber QB and that's why he's out the league. 3. There aren't many QB's that are "worse than Sanchez" in the league. You guys seem to overestimate Sanchez's ability. Geno Smith gave us similar production to what Sanchez has been giving us for 4 seasons and we get the benefit of Geno Smith improving and becoming a legit franchise QB. It's time for the team to go in that direction and develop Geno. If the Jets bring in a QB he's probably similar in skills and ability to Sanchez anyway. So it really doesn't make a difference. And no Idzik isn't sacrificing the season he's simply taking the team in a much needed new direction. If Geno stinks then we draft a QB in the early rounds next year as well. 4. I can see Sanchez being brought back if the other options are either too expensive or is off the market.
So tell me if Geno does not go 11-5 and have a QB rating higher than 75 and higher than 90 in the playoffs will you hate him to?
2010 Sanchez had a qb rating over 100 four times. over 80 four times and in the playoffs a QB rating over 100 twice. Geno does this I am sold on him as our franchise Qb.
To get back tot he original question in the thread title ... There is nothing I am more sure about in my 30 years of Jets fandom than that I want Sanchez to not be on this team as quickly as possible.
Idzik isn't spending any money, so we might as well just keep Sanchez and his crazy contract. He'll beat out Geno for the job, I reckon. A year on the sidelines will turn him into a much smarter all around QB. Bank on it. He's going to tear up WCO. I just hope it's not on another team.
I hope they take him and then when Sanchez is his same mediocre self they'll blame everything under the sun but Sanchez.
Rumors the Texans are interested in Mark if and when they get rid of Schaub. So was O'Brien the coach who said last month (anonymously) that he'd sign Mark in a minute to be his starter. Of course the Sanchize crew will go apeshit if this happens because O'Brien is known as a Qb guy and was Qb coach of NEP. And would just back up their theory that Mark was "ruined" by the Jets. To me no better friend to Mark than Rex. In spite of horrendous play he started him for 4 straight seasons.
I agree with this -- They are spending any money in key areas - Safety, Corner Back, WR made one move -- a lot of holes still to fill. Why go out and spend $12 million + on a 2 year QB deal? Doesn't make any sense. You just end up with a circus environment where fans and media start screaming for the backup to start in camp. Would ruin Smith.
Do we really know for sure the Jets are cutting Sanchez? They have millions upon millions in cap space they're not using and for all our issues with him, the QB options are getting more limited by the day. A Sanchez-Schaub 'swap' may do both of them well though. Sanchez-Geno would be child's play compared to the Brodeur-Schnieder bs with my hockey team lol...or even compared to Sanchez-Teblow two years ago.
I think there trying to trade him. I can't see the jets taking Schaub. Not attempting to sign a corner shows the jets are clearly looking to build through the draft and aren't concerned with wining now. Taking Schaub wouldn't make much sense.
I doubt Schaub would cost 'that' much at this point (after he gets cut) considering his age and how much he flamed out in Houston. Maybe he'd get a Kyle Orton-type deal. It gives them an option in case Geno's a dumpster fire, the option they never had when Sanchez was throwing 50 picks in two seasons.
I don't think idzick cares. I think it's going to be geno or bust hoping he takes a step fwd this year. I'm guessing of course, it seems as if this is another developmental year for everyone. Sucks for rex, just hope long term works out for everyone else.
Have you seen Schaub in the playoffs ? Did you see Schaub throw Pick-6's in 12 straight games last year ?
