    Like I said:

    @mike Garofalo
Darrelle Revis' deal w/ Patriots has a provision preventing team from tagging him in '15 if they decline option, sources tell @FOXSports1

I don't think it matters anyways, can ANY player with an option have the option declined in favor or a franchise tag? I don't think I've ever seen it happen before. Pretty sure it isn't possible, as declining the option would be the same as cutting him. I may be wrong, but the 2nd year @ 20m was basically the "no franchise claus" already. This isn't surprising.

An obvious provision, the 2nd year at $20mil. They either have to honor that, renegotiate, or move on. You can't franchise someone under contract.

From his press conference today: "My thing is all about winning. I want to win. What better organization than the New England Patriots to be a part of?"

I bet he restructures and spends the next three seasons in New England. Watch.
First year is just a mutual feeling out process to make sure each party is happy with the other. He's on his way to having made close to 100 million dollars. He could have went anywhere for the money. Oakland probably would of given more than the 16M he made at Tampa.

I am not half as worried about that as I would have been before he signed his last contract with us. I don't believe he is the same player but I guess we will find out this year.

We'll see... But i can't see him not wanting to test free agency. Especially if he has a vintage Revis year and gets a ring!! Then I think it's off to the highest bidder.

That's not true at all. Him demanding $16 million a year is absurd. He's a corner not a QB. He was let go like any owner would have with that amount. Especially when Tanny put us in complete cap hell.

I blame this entirely on Revis. He's a money hungry bitch.

He was one of the best football players in the league. Good thing we refused to pay him. Now we're worse off than last year, have a TON of unspent cap money, and Revis is wearing blue.
Who else lets their first ballot HoF talents go in the prime of their career in a trade for a mid round pick? This BS is all on ownership, and now we just lost DRC to the Vagiants.

If you think its logical to pay a corner coming off an ACL repair $16 million dollars you don't deserve to watch football.

We could have locked him up in a long term deal for far less than 16. He's now playing for the Patriots for 12 and I couldn't be surprised if he restructures a 3 or 4 year deal at 12M per before next off season.
Woody was just being an idiot.

Least we have all this cap money now to sign new talent though right?

A good player, great in 2009 & 2010. He owes his brand to Rex. Revis, would go down on a dick for a dollar. He is a whore now, he plays for New England. Disgusting.

Little of A, little of B.
He could have gotten more than what is essentially 1 year $12M from someone other then the Patriots (likely Oakland). He took the best chance to win/best chance to showcase himself on a playoff team.

And you know this how? There are no reports that Oakland offered him. Showcase his talent? No. He wants to sign a deal to play this year than ask for his $16 million after the season. He's money hungry.

If what you're writing is true then I have to say any and all respect that I ever had for Mevis has gone out the window. He is the most self centered, greedy, narcissist ever to play the game of football (I know, redundant). And that's saying something given the competition.
