Wasn't a fan of the Ivory signing and still not. He just hurts too much. Chris Johnson, great talent, but whines too much about money and wanting respect. It's all about him. I think MJD would be great pickup. He's runs hard and has a chip on his shoulder. At this point, Jets need to solidify the RB position, especially if they plan to limit how many throws Geno makes. With respect to Sidney Rice, I think that would be a good pickup, but in no way os he the number #1 receiver the Jets still need.
I'm not quite sure how you can look at last season and think MJD is a better option than Ivory. Age, production, the whole package really.
Hurts too much? he played in 15 games... Thats out of 16.......... Dude is better than everyone you listed below him... Don't get me wrong Chris Johnson and MJD in their prime were no doubt better... But Ivory is still young and just getting started.. Hopefully Marty realizes what he has, and starts using him how he should.
Jet beat writers sure do suck, crappy sources, links the wrong players, always late in reporting the true news. These guys are out of the loop completely. Hell even Beat Writers outside of NY seem to have more authentic news for the Jets.
I think there are several reasons why that is happening. One, Goodson's future with the team is in doubt. If he isn't back, the Jets need another RB for depth and insurance, particularly with Ivory's hamstring history. Two, the team needs a 3rd down back with good hands. Three, the team could still use some more offensive playmakers. Four, I think people are frustrated with the lack of movement on Idzik's part and the number of FAs who could have helped this team having signed elsewhere, and they just want to see some more offensive playmakers added. I've been patient and supportive of Idzik, but my patience is starting to wear thin. I think he's being too cheap and undervalues some players too much. I'm all for building through the draft, but imo there's nothing wrong with adding a younger starter or two through FA or paying a little more than you wanted or expected. Sure, get the best deal you can, but his bluff has been called enough now, that I think it's fair to start questioning and criticizing him.
Nothing.But you need at least 3 RB's nowadays. For one it's a depth thing given the high injury rate.But also RBs tend to be hot/cold within their performance. If you've got 3 capable backs you increase your chances of always having a guy hitting the hole well & getting yards after contact. Additionally, a pass receiving threat out of the backfield would do wonders for this offense. Neither Powell or Ivory are great receivers.
When do we find out if Goodson is back with us or not? Because he is the answer and is younger and faster then all of the guys that we supposedly want to bring in.
Manish blocked me do to this. When PFT broke the Pace signing he 5 minutes later quoted his "sources" that they made a deal. I tweeted him if PFT was his source. He's a hack who has no insight since Idzik has come to town.

Agreed. He hasn't been right about a single rumor this entire free agency period. He literally pulls crap out of thin air or confirms other people's reports like you said. The only time he offers even the slightest bit of insight, It's something petty about Rex or whoever the QB is or meant to create controversy. I'm not convinced he even fully understands the game/rules of football. Just a TMZ gossip queen.
Texans and Raiders interested in him as a starter. No way he doesn't get cut and there is no reason for him to restructure.
Cooks is not worth the 18th pick and wouldn't last until our second pick. I don't see us getting him in any scenario.

i mean thats exactly it. the eagles would laugh at an offer for a 4th round pick for a top tier WR in the NFL. i'd love to have him on the team obviously
