Rich Cimini @RichCimini 1m Starting to get the sense the Jets are losing hope on the Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie front. #nyj
For sure... Would open up a lot for us as the defense would have to account for him every single play.... That opens up Kerley/Decker and our run game... Win win for everybody.
I am so fed up with idzik------last year we were told jets can only get tier 3 guys because of our lousy sal cap----and not to worry as 2014 we will have lots of money-----espn said we have the 5th most money a week has gone by and all we did is sign one fa from tier1 decker is good but to compete with pats dolphs pitt ranens and all the rest we needed tier 1 guys OL RB WR to go along with decker DB so fed up with reading how the pats had 12m to get revis as well as a few other wr cant count on the draft as every team can pick the guys ahead of us------fa is where you fill the holes esp with our being 40m over----draft is where you pick up guys to be second stringers and groom them for starters by mid season-------this is going to be another bad to so so season instead of challenging the pats an dolphs for division----we were fed a bad bill of goods I was at the first titan game at the polo grounds----I bleed green ---stand back from your computers don't want to mess you up 0nly have jan 12 1969 to keep us goimg
I would go crazy. That's what I a lot of people don't understand, they don't see the bigger picture when it comes to the CB position. It's not just about a body this year it's about a body next year, the year after and the year after that. It's about the fact that paying a guy $6mil this year is better than $7mil next year and $8mil the year after that, especially if the quality goes down...this year seemed to be a particularly good year for CBs in free agency, likely you'll pay the same or more you'd pay for a good CB this year as you'll pay for an average or worse one next year due to a supply/demand issue. Plus the cap is likely to go up so $6mil or $7mil doesn't hurt as much a year or two from now. Hell, it doesn't even hurt us this year as we may currently be below the 89% spending rule. Finally you have the fact that we may have to burn a draft pick, possibly even another first rounder, on the CB position. This is painful both for the short term and long term as 1) the guy may be a bust so you wasted a high pick on them 2) the organization could have added a potential play maker or at least solid contributor at another area of need and 3) in their first year they could have adjustment issues with NFL speed like Milliner did so you could possibly lose more games as a result.
I saw the Jets at the Polo Grounds and I'm fine with the building Idzik is doing. If they did this in the past we would have made more progress.
jacoby ford would be a nice gadget player..def on returns..not comfortable having him play alot of snaps on O
im getting really annoyed with this corner postion... if its not gonna happen move on a bring cro back..like i said before if they never cut him and restructored his deal we would all be happy and said what a good move it was....
Would be a very nice option to have. He's not an every down WR but if you get him the ball in man coverage, all he needs is a tiny lane to make a big play. I like him paired with Decker and Kerley too. Both will command the attention over the top and underneath.
They should be, there is no good quality CBs after DRC. The front office knows we need a corner or they would not have actively pursued Davis or DRC so they can't pull the we are fine with who we have card.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 45s #Jets are still looking to add a WR, and source says they are interested in Sidney Rice. #Saints are too, & #Seahawks would welcome a return Now THIS I like.
the browns are another team stocking up on fa------there were supposed to be several db in fa------haven't signed anyone-----its a scandal its an outrage (from the show oklahoma
There is no need to panic at this time. We are building through the draft. I hope the Jets don't pay DRC 57 million or whatever the Broncos offered. I like Sidney Rice and Jacoby Ford as options, especially Ford dude is explosive and can return kicks
If he signs with the Giants for 10mil a year of course we didn't sign him, I will be upset if he signs for under 8 a year. I understand building through the draft but to get a corner to come in and contribute right away in the draft is very difficult and requires a high pick.
Heh! Some people here are happy no matter what the FO does. Or doesn't do. But I agree at this point the best move is to bring Cro back, hope he's healthy, and go O with the first pick, preferably wideout. 2014 is shaping up as an off year, but at the very least it should be used to assess whether Smith shows enough development to keep him as the starter. Part of doing that is to get one more receiver to play with Decker and Kerley. Since they are not apparently doing that in FA, the next chance they have to significantly upgrade is to go wideout with the first pick. If they do not have a starting Cb to play opposite Milliner on the first day of the draft, you know what Rex will want the team to do. Dont; let it ocme to that. I can just see all the excuse making for Smith that will ensue nextg year if they don't go big in the draft for a receiver.
