So let me get his straight. Johnson is forcing Idzik to keep Ryan against Idzik's judgement and, to counteract that, Idzik is refusing to use cap money to sign players so that the Jets have a bad season. Then Idzik will use that to convince Johnson Ryan has to go after 2014? All of this while the entire NFL media - national and local - are scrutinizing everything the Jets (and other teams do) in free agency. Is Idzik going to purposely screw up the draft too? The draft is part of the infusion of talent on the roster as much if not more than free agency. Is Idzik going to purposely draft poorly? It is up to the GM to provide the team with talent, not the HC. Idzik is responsible for acquiring players - shopping for the groceries as Parcells put it. Do you really think Johnson is that stupid that he will not realize this "master plan" by Idzik and not hold him accountable for the talent level on the team? I don't need any inside information to know that your theory is total BS, just a little common sense.
So letting Hunter go for LT money was a mistake and his replacement was a downgrade, but resigning Pace when the team lacks OLBs after he played so well last year is a mistake. I get it.
Wouldn't make too much sense to sign him now. Wait until his rehab is further along and then bring him in to check him out. Ballard would be a good example of why it would be better to wait.
Whoa Nelly..I said none of that..your diatribe is what is total BS. I said he hasn't done anything SO FAR this off season to help him get to 8-8 again next year. I think that and I will continue to think that until he does. I also said he had a good draft last year and did a good job despite the Jets being broke. We are not broke this year and we will have even more cap space next year and I don't see him doing anything with it to improve the team..
I think Winslow is out because of his off the field problems. If we sign Keller it would probably be with 2015 in mind, maybe later in 2014 so you'd still need to draft or sign another TE. btw what's the story with Mike Goodson. He played a few games and looked very fast. But then got injured. Plus he is due in court sometime this year for that weapons and drug charge. And could still be in line for another NFL suspension.
Ballard was a pretty good player with the Giants. And the Patriots liked him enough to sign and pay him even though injured. But then cut him out of training camp last year. But he did end up with Arizona and I think just re-signed with them. If cheap it might be a good insurance policy on a potentially good player. As for Mark with the Raiders he'd be re-united with Tony Sparano. Who believed in him so much they played him in spite of himself. I'd go with Pryor if I were Oakland.

Goodson was already suspended 4 games for violating the substance abuse policy. If he gets convicted of the gun charges he will probably be in jail so a suspension will be the least of his worries, if he is cleared then there should not be any other suspension.
Timeline! Idzik cancelled on Friday, the agent stuff happened on Saturday! How would Idzik get a heads up on something that hadn't happened yet?
Ballard didn't make it out of training camp with the Pats and had all of 7 reception last year. I would hope they wouldn't waste the time with Keller until they know if he is actually going to be able to run again.

Looks like we'd be in position to do so. Tons of cap room, both Cromartie's markets have come back down to earth. I'd settle just to hear that we re-signed one of them, but both certainly shouldn't be out of the question.
Talk about eating Cro(w). btw I don't think Idzik wants to lose so he has an excuse to fire Rex. I saw him after games at times when he didn't know the camera was on him. And he looked genuinely happy when the Jets won games. Plus Rex seems to be cooperating with him. He's curtailed his braggadocio and doesn't comment when he's told not to comment (I assume by Idzik).
