15 ?18? No I'm 27 with a life and don't have time to find out what Revis family members are doing,I normally only come on here late at night now I don't sit here all day looking up Jets news that isn't important to anyone.Revis is a big boy he doesn't need his fat uncle to make his decisions

either they detected DRC was a flake or they couldn't get him at their price.

no disappointment here. the giants are not matching the jets price.

Except its common knowledge that Gilbert is Revis' uncle and this came up every off season with every one of Revis' contract shenanigans. There have been constant references that Gilbert was advising Revis with regard to his contract negotiations and annual holdouts. You would have to live under a rock not to know that.

  4. I just wish they'd be clear w/ their intentions. This front office is so tightly held under wraps..we have no idea what direction they're going. They no longer say even a word of substance in any interview. If they have some long term plan that includes some prudent economics w/ a strong emphasis on value(*Both in FA & draft)than so be it.But how are we to know?

The media created this monster. They continue to feed it & us fans w/ speculative interest from self serving agents. That's what most of us are angry about. The media hyped up Jets free agency so much- suggesting that the team would be aggressive in patching holes. They depicted this as Idzik's big shot at a quick fix

But instead the Jets seem to be actively communicating in the market while being very selective w. persons of interest.Completely different play than what Manish Mehta has been spewing every few hours or so.

Like I said, I think Idzik should at least bend a little bit with DRC. I mean, who else are we really going to sign to a big contract?

I agree with Idzik's mantra, but god damn, there's like 40 mil of cap space available, and that's with Sanchez still not released.

What? You want him to come out of retirement to be a back up tackle?
Is there really some connection here or are you just losing it?

Stop spreading complete nonsense. John Idzik was very very far down the line in terms of personnel guys on that team. He was an administrator, a cap guy, a contracts guy.....and he wasn't even the top of the totem pole on those things. If you want to put blind faith in the guy fine, but STOP posting false info about what his role in Seattle was.

I absolutely do not trust the guy bc he has no resume that displays an ability to scout/develop talent or build a roster from the draft. And we already know Rex lacks that ability.

You just learned Manish Mehta (and the vast majority of NY media) is a know-nothing that creates fiction when he doesn't have any facts to report? He's been doing this for years and his "insider" is now coaching Cleveland - he has no one to feed him any information. Literally everything he reports as gossip is fiction. If you're complaint is that the media is whipping you into a frenzy ... then ignore the media. It'll immediately make you more informed than 90% of the fanbase.

Fair enough, but his only draft so far already looks decent. Defensive rookie of the year, a rising CB and a QB drafted way later than most predicted. Plus Idzik brought in a bunch of his own men to be scouts for this year's draft, so we can judge him on the draft when it comes.

His "resume" for scouting and developing talent can be seen in his short time at the Jets already. Obviously we'll know more in a year or two, but I'm happy so far.

LOL his first draft was a disaster. The QB he wasted a pick on was by far the worst starting QB in football last year, and the reason he fell to the 2nd round is b/c he is not a franchise QB. The CB he selected was also a disaster, and comes from a system notorious for producing busts, and he spend a NINTH OVERALL PICK on the guy.

And as good as Richardson was, he was a luxury pick that we didnt need, as we had literally JUST SPENT a 1st rounder on a 3technique DT in Coples.

If you are going to spend a 9th overall pick on a CB, it might have been prudent to know if he knew how to backpeddle. We got one good player out of that critical draft, and he plays the same exact position as our previous years first rounder. Idzik is one of these guys who learned a method of doing things, but doesn't have the instincts. Save this post for the end of the season when everyone is hanging themselves over how shit Geno and Milliner are.

Geno wasn't the worst starting QB in the NFL last year. He really showed a lot throughout the season and looked like he was heading in the right direction during the last month of the season. He was a rookie and the book is still out on him.

Alabama actually has a lot of quality players in the NFL. Milliner also looked like he was heading in the right direction, especially over the final month of the season. DROM. Book is still out on him. He backpedals just fine, that is just stupid to even say. I'm sure you were being over exaggerated, but I haven't seen a post this bad in awhile.

I think you may be trolling.

A luxury pick we didn't need? WTF are you smoking because I want some. He was the BPA on his draft board, he took him. He gets credit for it, you can't take that away from him. Coples was NEVER drafted to be a 3tech DT, you should do a little more research before you start talking out of your ass on a forum.

Lafell actually had a decent second half of the season last year. And he was playing in one of the most vanilla offenses in the league.

There's no way you can knock picking Shelly Shel. He was a beast and his college film made him look like a super hero. I did NOT want him last year but I completely understood the logic behind it. And it turned out to be an excellent selection.

I will give the gm a pass,,,for now,,,the guy has some sort of plan,,,we won't see the end result until the season is under way and yes the season does not begin today,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BUT I would be lying if I said I am not concerned about the lack of holes being filled via FA !
I am not saying to spend money like a drunken sailor but we have at least 7 positions that need to be filled because of lack of depth or need and I just don't see 7 out of 11 draft picks coming in and starting right away. CB is one very scary position on the jets right now,,,no one can argue that it is weaker now than it was at seasons end . I truly hope we get DRC but they let him walk out of the building without a contract and resign CRO otherwise regardless of our front 7 this defense / secondary will be very painful to watch this year !
Plenty of time before the season,,,,,but I cannot just blindly put faith in anyone,,,,,,I will judge them by the results .

But we should all be so lucky to have Bradway as the head of college scouting. If Idzik's approach is to build through the draft and he's heavily relying on Bradway's scouting ability then this could be an interesting draft and not in a good way.

Mehta is throwing darts ... praying he scores a hit. His tweets are endlessly repeating themselves, and they are ALL speculative. I think the Jets might even have someone feeding him misinformation. How many times can he repeat the "Rex Ryans head will explode if _________ isn't signed"? Love watching that twerp flounder without a clue.

There is no such thing as a luxury pick when it comes to the defensive line. In my opinion, defensive linemen (whether ends or tackles) are the most important players after quarterbacks because, well, they get after quarterbacks (and help stop the run). The Jets could take one defensive lineman in the first three rounds every year and I would be happy. I loved the Richardson pick the moment it was made. The only time I was disgusted with a defensive lineman pick was the Vernon Gholston pick and you can look it up here. Before that draft I was dreading him going to the Jets because I knew he could not play.

Someone keeps saying we have 40 million in cap space, not until Sanchez is cut. We have 27 million right now and Decker only counts 4 million this year, so that's good. http://overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Jets&Year=2014
The Giants have a little over 11 million so they can sign DRC; but would have to cut someone. And I can't figure out how the Pats still have 10 million left on their cap without mortgaging the future. Same story with the Bronco's they have 11 million in cap left, and they sign someone every day. Something has to give because that bill will come due next year.

So we still have, what, $30mil in cap space.

I like how people kept saying good teams don't make splashes in free agency yet the Broncos, Pats, and Saints all made huge acquisitions. Here we are sitting on a pile of cap space like some either great teams like the Jags, Raiders, and Browns.
