It's obvious what's happening. Rex needs a top corner. Our GM won't give him one. Setting him up to fail to bring in his own head coach next year.
Well that's a real scenario looking at the current personnel at corner. I don't want to remain in panic mode but it's clear the jets passive approach to the free agent market has put them behind the eight ball. It makes the draft even more important and, IMO, removes the luxury of taking the best player available. We are now locked in on CB, OT, TE, and WR. Forget QB, forget OLB, forget safety. Another 1st round corner - that'll be 3 in what 5 years? Oh well. We'll see.
he would have just fired him if he wanted that so badly, don't delve into into illogical and convoluted conspiracies like that.
Just because DRC left doesn't mean we won't sign him. He may want to take a couple more visits. Sanders took 5 then signed somewhere he never visited. We knew days ago that we weren't going to match Cro's offer. No reason to be doom and gloom
Maybe DRC isn't someone we want? Is that not a possibility? We are targeting specific type of players, personalities, etc.. Maybe he just wasn't a good fit for the money. The offseason has just started, it's not over. Just because he isn't signing all the big names of the world doesn't mean he won't sign a lot of quality players in the near future. Trades are always a possibility too. People need to step back from the ledge man.
Maybe we just aren't really interested in anyone in this free agent class. Emmanuel signs with the Broncos without even visiting. Knew he wanted to best choice for himself to put up numbers to cash in on a big deal next year.
For those that want to spend every dime. We may not get any of them but to make ya smile for now next years free agents include: Brandon Marshall Andre Johnson Wes Welker Vernon Davis Von Miller
Would have fired him last year rather than extend him. And probably wouldn't have been in the locker room giving an emotional speech about how Rex is "our" coach after the final game.
I rather have A Cro back. He knows the system, and hopefully he is healed from his hip injury to perform better than last year.
Idzik gave Rex lots of pieces he needed last year to run his game plan. I expect he'll do the same this year. It's just not going to include overpaying for a piece. Rex is a good coach. He'll find an answer at CB. I'm more worried about FS at this point.
Wes is getting up there in age and only wants to play with a title caliber team, same with Andre Johnson in regards to his age, Vernon will stay with the Niners, Miller and Marshall will likely stay with their teams too. Marshall and Miller are the only ones worth it and Marshall turns 30 while Miller won't be leaving Denver barring another suspension
Umm, those players would've excited me 8-10 years ago. But Idzik's philosophy focuses on getting younger, faster, and bringing in high character players. Johnson and Welker will be 34, Marshall will be 31 and is a headcase. Davis will also be 31. And it'd be beyond shocking if Denver lets Miller walk.
To be clear I'm not saying I would have fired Rex (nor do I want Rex fired), I was responding to the other guy saying Idzik would've fired Rex if he didn't like him.
