Why would you guys want the Jets to play in those 80s unis? They were horrible imo. I welcomed the change back to the 60s unis. Like someone else said, they are one of the best designs/looks in the league. I suppose for nostalgic purposes the Jets can do 1 game in them. And ONE game only. Then again, they can do whatever they want.
When Parcells brought back the Namath logo in 98, I loved it!! I was born in 1980 and was a huge fan since 5 years old so that 80s-90s logo and unis were all I ever knew. And from 92-96 they did a lot of losing in that ugly green and black combo. I liked the kelly green and white look that was slick. But anyway, i know some of you older Jets fans love the current logo and I like it too ... but 17 years since it was reborn, I must say, it has gotten incredibly boring and plain. The merch is just so blah bc of it too. Look around the stadium the last couple of years i see A LOT more ppl sporting the 80s logo, I guess ppl realize that it is neat looking. Maybe we can mesh the two for a couple games. I hope they bring them back but I wouldnt put much thought into the stuff they are selling on NFLShop. When they switched to Nike jerseys in 2012 they sold a ton of the nike NY Titans t-shirts, New Era was making NY Titans hats, and despite all this NY Titans gear being made by Nike and New Era (who took over the rights from Reebok and the other hat company), we never wore the NY Titans stuff in either the 2012 or 2013 season. I was kinda disappointed because I actually don't mind those jerseys (although I know most fans dont like em). I hope we have some sort of alternate though.
Actually like our current uniforms way better than the 80s, even tho I grew up on 80s jets football. One throwback I'd like to see is late 60s afl. Very similar to today's, but Kelly green rather than that very dark green, slightly different shoulders, and grey face masks. Hell no to nike futuristic concepts. I still don't know what that horrible stomach patch was on last years jerseys. Nike is terrible, and i prefer traditional teams that don't alter uniforms much.
I love the current unis, it's the perfect blend of the 69 championship team updated to modern times with the slightly darker green. Bless Parcells for bringing that look back. I hate Nike screwing with the different greens and olives and drab and the stomach patch, just keep it that one shade of darker green. _
I like the current uniform and logo, but I also wouldn't mind seeing the 80s look as a throwback uniform. I understand the helmet rule, but that can be resolved by removing the current logo and replacing it with the old logo.
Yeah but then you get the opposite of the way they fubared it up the last time they tried it. The helmet needs to be green, you can't just put the 80s logo on a white helmet. If you recall back in the Boomer days, the did a throw back to the 60s but put that logo on the green helmet. Looked awful and incredibly cheap. Back then they COULD have used all new white helmets. _
You dont think the 80s logo on a white helmet is nice? Who cares what color it is, i actually like it better. Like i said before, i know you old timers like it, as do I ... but the old logo is plain and BORING. you have the use a magnifying glass to see "Jets" spelled out, first of all ... and secondly, there is no symbol and/or representation of a Jet ... in any way lol. And anyway, I always thought the 80s Jets logo was one of the coolest in the NFL ... the problem was the ugly shades of green and then when they started using the black. It actually works well combined with the current scheme.
Ummm, they ONLY change the color of the helmet they DON'T actually USE helmets made like the throwbacks... Did You actually believe that??? & you're supposedly an attorney :/
No, it looks awful. But my friends 14 year old thinks it's dope whatever that means. As a lifelong fan I think it looks stupid. But I also disliked the Titans throwbacks and some kids liked them too. _
Dope is good lol. And as a side note ... dont ever think the nfl doesnt pay attention to what the youngsters like in terms of logos, uniform design, etc. In fact they probably care more about what young ppl think since they are the ones wearing the apparel on non game days ... to school etc.
