Yeah, but the way I see it, Idzik's hands are kind of tied now. We really need a solid veteran CB, and DRC looks like the only really good option left. Better to hand his agent a blank check than to get shut out altogether, and go into the season with Kyle Wilson as a starter. (yikes!) Darrin Walls might be OK, but he's a risk at this point...
Your hands are never tied when it comes to veteran free agency. A team in build mode always has the option to let a couple of young guys compete for the job. If nobody grabs it then if CB is one of the last positions the Jets need they'll go get a vet next year.
Oh good thing you popped up. I've been meaning to ask ... When you come to Jets forum and argue that Pats are in great shape and no Wilfork, or WRs, or cap space, or whatever else, is ok -- are you trying to convince us, or yourself?
Nobody is scared of brady and edleman. Vereen is good but our dline is too much for him. Wilfork is an old fart now... CHris Ivory can have his usual field day vs them. The middle of their defense should be where we attack with Kerley and whoever our TE will be. Patriots aint all that scary. Had Geno minimized his turnovers we woulda really whooped on them bad twice.
not going to lie…kinda like the no leaks….its bad for media.. but i like how everyone is taking idzik seriously then being able to take shots at him..i just hope in 2 years or so nobody will question his choices because you know he's a smart guy
the Jets are playing a longer game than their fans would like it seems. the broncos and pats are in a position to sign guys high talent guys that won't be on the roster two years from now because they have a short championship window. Revis and Ware weak of this mindset. the Jets are in no such place and are more prepped to sign players that have longer lasting appeal than go for the home run (though Decker fits somewhere between those two thoughts) the Jets are looking for players that put their teams of the future in the best position to win, wether as supporting players, future above average anchors to their position or cap light contributors that don't get in the way of signing bigger names when/if a championship window is formed. but thats maddening to go through for fans, "these other guys are going out as big spenders and despite not having any cap constraints the team is doing the same! What gives?!" we're not built for a championship this year, getting a few players that are high on the list aren't going to change that. Think about today with a greater mind on tomorrow, cause trying now is a likely to yield a passive aggressive run for the Lambardi that hinders our ability to build a championship window in a more substantial way later.
So the patsies got Revis and Browner to sure up their back line. With McCourty and whomever else is back there they should be much improved.
The Jets as currently constructed will be lucky to get a WC next year. Playoffs?......Playoffs!?!? Idzik better nail the fucking draft. I can already hear all the excuses. He seriously better ace it.
I totally agree with you regarding Revis. Why such love for Munnerlyn? I live in NC and have seen him play a lot. He really isn't that good. He's a ballhawk, which I like, but his coverage skills are not that good. He gets beaten a lot and is soft. I think he may be a slot corner and we already have a slot corner in Wilson.
It kind of is a Jets update, if the Patriots' grab another WR, it's one less WR for the Jets to pick from, and didn't somebody say that Decker told them the Jets promised another WR within 24 hours after he signed?
Patriots are just trying to counter what the Broncos are doing. Denver has made better signings and still has the better overall team. My point: we will beat both of these scrub teams when the 2014-15 season rolls around.
I'm a jet fan for life ... I bleed green and white ... And I hate the patriots!!! But ppl that are discrediting the pats and saying who do they even have on offense? and they got lucky last year and this and that .... Give credit where credit is due and know that we are a ways behind them while we are rebuilding/reloading up (at least this year) ... They are the patriots and while brady is there it doesn't matter who they have on offense because they are always consistent year in an year out when ppl doubt there offense ... They will be the same ole pats this year again (not to mention browner and revis to there defense) ... But they need to know that when they look in the rear view mirror we are tailgating the shit out of them ... Now let's lock up DRC!!!! Lol
As much as I dislike the Pats, it's odd hearing they have a "championship window", when it's been open for 13 years. That'll only change two ways - Belichick retires, or Brady's replacement sucks. They had a decent season with Cassel at QB. I was unhappy with Idzik initially this week, (I assumed a high profile FA D Back was a sure thing) but if the more cautious approach is being done to keep the young D line intact, then I understand it. Right now I am concerned that we don't have either Revis or Cromartie, and the young replacements of Kyle Wilson and Dee Milliner haven't given us reason to hope we should relax.
