and if the reports are true its been said he will visit with the Giants "depending on how things go with the Jets" It would sound like to me he is ready to sign a deal if he is made the right offer.
Great post, really says it all. He better come cheaper since woody probably coughed up a grand for dinner, breakfast and now lunch!
Yeah, yeah, I don't buy that. If you are a cover 2 CB there is no reason to think you can play man because it's much harder to do but if you are a man CB with half an ounce of brains you should be able to play cover 2 because you have so much more going for you to start with.
We've essentially backed ourselves into a corner to the point where we HAVE to sign DRC. We need a proven, veteran #1 corner that can both play shutdown man coverage and tutor Milliner. Think of how the defense was able to play with a secondary that was a complete joke for most of the year. Now picture that same menacing front line with 2 much improved starters at corner. Personally, I was glad that Idzik didn't have interest in Revis; you can't move forward when you keep looking into your past. However, I think we should have went after Captain Munnerlyn with much more urgency than we did. I realize that we did in fact have a meeting schedule with him before he signed in Minnesota, but for me that was a target that was worth heavily pursuing.
A lot of Eagles and Broncos fans were not fans of DRC. We kinda have no choice though, it might just be better to bring back Antonio for another season and address this issue next year than rather giving DRC a multi year. (Unless we can get DRC for on)
I don't know, maybe he isn't smart enough to have picked up his responsibilities in a cover 2. It certainly wouldn't be because of a lack of athleticism.
Munnerlyn is a nickel corner at best... No way he would be able to play the #1 spot... Glad we didn't get him.
You folks realize they haven't lost Wilfork yet, and they got to the AFC Title game with no Browner, Revis, or Wolfork last year anyway.
Idzik dropped the ball where CB is concerned. This position was an area of concern last season but now it's an area of desperation.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 3m Ben Tate has agreed to be a member of the Cleveland #Browns, per source. Deal is done. I don't know if they will be any good but they are signing a lot of good players and still have a ton of cap space left. As of a little while ago they still had 33M.
What was Idzik suppose to do regarding the corner position? From all the reports our guy was Davis but the Colts brought him back. Pay Mevis 20 million a year like the pats will next year? Take Verner who is a bad fit? He has DRC meeting with him right now let's all calm down
What I'm saying is, I think DRC is looking for a long term deal. I think he is looking for something that would secure him for a long time. Denver is working on a two year window with Manning and they offered him a deal that would essentially lead to his release when they purge their roster come the end of the Manning Era. That contract he denied did not secure him long term. Our answer is long term. Where we are right now meets exactly where he is right now. The plan is long term unlike Denver. I think with a proper deal in place the guarantees him a certain amount over a longer period in time would entice him more.
AFC playoff contenders were watered down last year...Bengals were bungled by Dalton, same with the Colts though Luck needs more receivers and they have Wayne coming back and Nicks for next year. Chiefs should still be good but totally choked and need another receiver opposite Bowe. Patriots taking the approach that dominant imposing corner play will put them over the top, but they forget how mediocre their safeties, linebackers and d-line are. They'll likely use every round to draft a wideout because they don't have any even with signing Edelman back
I like this signing, and I thought maybe the Jets would be a good spot for Tate. But Whitner with a more expensive contract is not much of an upgrade from Ward IMO. I would've also payed Jackson who is younger and has more upside than Dansby. Just don't see what they gained with those moves.
