I know they don't have the depth to press full court most of the game but they need to use it more. Gave them a chance late vs. duke last week and again today.
Iowa St can ball!!! Up 4 on Kansas. I also really enjoy watching Louisville play. Up tempo..press.. Very fun
How could I forget.. NC STATE!!!! Hanging in there with Cuse! Christmas picking up his 4th with a little over 15 left hurts
Guess we had our shot. Well our last 5 shots. Wow. You know what, I'm never going to complain about fouls not called or fouls called. That's childish. We lost fair and square. We need more of that here. _
Prairie View A&M was the 8th seed in the SWAC tournament. They blew out #9, blew out #1, and now lead #5 by 11 at the half. If they win, they'd be in the final. Win that, and they'd be on the short list of the worst teams to ever make the NCAA tournament. They were 6-12 in the SWAC during the regular season! (the SWAC is the worst conference every season and doesn't even belong in Division I)
what would you have to complain about when most of the calls have gone your way late in close games? Carolina deserved to lose for playing so poorly for most of the game but it doesn't take away from 2 horrendous calls late in the game that could have changed the outcome. when they watch film they will have a million reasons why they lost and most of it b/c of themselves that doesn't mean it isn't frustrating to see 2 terrible calls go against them late. Instead of having the ball down 4 w/ a min left they were down 6. huge swing. speaking of that, 2 close plays to end the duke game, both should have been no calls but duke gets the call in their favor each time to win by 1.
Texas Southern comes back to win 78-73. Interesting to note that the #1 seed in the SWAC tournament, Southern University (15-3 in conference play) was blown out 64-46 by #8 seed Prairie View - Southern U. was ineligible for post season play anyway because of APR (Academic Progress Rate) violations, i.e. "insufficient records" meaning: did they possibly go into their conference tournament with a "why bother?" attitude? Locally, Stony Brook spits the bit today at home vs. U-Albany leaving Manhattan College by dint of their MAAC win over #1 seed Iona College as the sole local entry in the NCAAs. Well done Jaspers. Among the big boys, Louisville's been ratcheting up their defense this past week and are starting to look like a team nobody's going to want to play.
I didn't know that about Southern. Could be they didn't care as much. It makes no sense that they were even allowed to play in the conference tournament. If they won, I guess they'd give the NCAA tournament bid to the loser of the final? UCLA just beat Arizona in the Pac-12 title game. As for Louisville, they've been underrated. Maybe Lunardi will finally bump them up to a 2. I think they have an argument for a 1 seed.
Turns out Southern's athletic progr The latest I got about Southern was that they were banned until they could produce records going back to 2009. I looked but could not find anything out of New Oreans media thay announced their reinstatement because you're right, it would've been wierd playing the SWAC without NCAA post tourney eligibility. In any event, it was curious that they not only lost but were blown out by an 11-23 (6-12 conf.) Prairie View team. Maybe they were worn out cramming for mid-terms. Yeah that was probably it. Nice win by UCLA. Would've made the tourney anyway despite a fairly recent bad loss to Wash. St. whose resume includes a loss to TCU (0-18 Big 12). As for Lunardi and Louisville, they're definitely a #2 seed and a strong one at that. He just slid Michigan in replacing Villanova as a 1 seed. I don't argue him dropping 'Nova to a 2 coming off their loss to the Hall (17-17; 6-12 conf.), but at the same time, Michigan barely escaped with a win over #24-ranked Ohio St. while Louisville's win over #21 UConn wasn't really ever in doubt after 10 minutes. Right now I'd take Louisville's 'D' over Michigan and Nick Stauskas.
I think it's ridiculous how Louisville isn't being considered a one. Right now he didn't even have them as a 2!!! Absolute joke
Yisman, I think the SWAC may have competion this year from the Big West conference--what a mess: in their tournament final Cal Poly (12-19) beat Cal. St. Northridge (17-18), this after beating the top seed Cal-Urvine Anteaters in the semis. And on a happier note, congrats Providence Friars.
Bunch of good games today. I think Virginia prevails over duke. Someone just made a good point on ncaab live a few moments ago saying if a Duke won the outright ACC conference and ended up winning the ACC tourney they would be a lock for 1 seed. How come Virginia isn't getting the same respect? Outright conference winner and possible tourney winner? I'm also really excited to see the third gsme between Michigan and MSU! Going to be an amazing day to say the least
I'm guessing Cuse bought themselves a 5 seed with the NC State loss followed by NC getting blown up by Duke. Also, if they do get a 5, I imagine they will be upset by 12.
Yeah I was praying for a 4 but they are going to ding us badly. And we deserve it, we've been awful for about a month. I've seen us have mini-flame outs before, losses to knock us out of tourneys when we probably shouldn't have but this is the worst straight downward crash I think I can remember. _
