It doesn't make sense in Rd 1, you're basically giving up on Geno and Idzik would be admitting his error drafting him last year. But don't be surprised if we add a QB in Rd 4 or later.
You can't shun a QB after just 1 season though. Idzik's shown thus far he's very patient as if this FA tells you anything about the guy. I doubt Rex wants to deal with another rookie QB again when he's fighting for his job. Same with Marty, Lee and co because a new head coach means they're most likely gone.
Geno is going to be fine.. Have some damn faith.. You guys give Sanchez 4 years and only give Geno 16 games... Relax.
Yea I would deff be down with that... Lets get him here for 3 years.. He turning 28 in April so we can still get a few years out of him.
I agree that Rex doesn't have any more power but Idzik has turned to both Marty and Lee for any QB conversation and both are Pro-Geno if Decker's praise of Geno has any say of it. Same with Rex for any defensive players. Everybody works together, Idzik has much more say than what Tanny did though. Would be silly too since if Geno fails(And the others around him too) it means Rex is most likely gone.....so with a new head coach will come a new QB. Doesn't sound too promising for Idzik to go and tell interested head coaches that Geno or 2014 rookie QB is our QB, take it or leave it. Head coaches will always come in and want their guy unless they inherit a can't miss, superstar, franchise QB for years to come or someone like Brady/Brees/Manning who are old but still great.
I think 7.5-8 mill for DRC is fine and I don't think DRC and his agency will mess around with that offer. That might be the best they're going to get since we are one of the very few teams with a lot of money left who need a CB. DRC becomes the no.1 CB, gets to work with Rex Ryan one of the best defensive minds in the game AND gets a big payday for him to be financially stable(Unless he just spends it stupidly)? He can ask his cousin all about the Jets and Antonio will tell it like it is and say there isn't a more funner defensive coach to work with than Rex Ryan. Why would you turn that down?

The nice part is that Idzik will know he is going to Giants next. Make him an awesome deal under a Rex Ryan defense. Don't let him get to those blue idiots
The Jets are probably going to draft somebody at some point this year. That's how Seattle found their QB. Never stopped acquiring people who could be the guy until he stepped forward and became the guy. 2010 - Charlie Whitehurst. 2011 - Tarvaris Jackson. 2012 - Matt Flynn, Russell Wilson. I'm guessing John Idzik is going to take the fast forward approach and go for another 4th round or better guy. Doesn't mean that Geno isn't the guy, just that the Jets probably aren't going to wait a year to bring in the next guy who could be the guy.
