Honestly MJD and Ivory would gas D-lines so badly it would be amazing to have two backs with that type of run style.
IMO the Jets probably already have talked to DRC about the numbers for him to come this late in Free Agency, this meeting has to be ironing out details. I have a feeling he'll sign with us. With that said, and hypothetically speaking he does sign, do we sign someone to play nickel or do we let Wilson prove he can one final time.
DRC is about the only thing that could save this FA by now. He'd shore up the backfield then go WR/TE/G in some combination with the first 3 picks. Sign an extra cheap vet or two at G/S and that's a potential playoff team with good prospects for the future if the draft pans out. I'm a little skeptical he'll actually get signed but this is the first actually exciting report I've heard in three days.
DRC is a great fit http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...odgers-cromartie-scheduled-to-meet-with-jets/
Either Dimitroff or Smith is probably going to get fired next year if the Falcons don't jump back into playoff contention . I don't like their chances, mainly due to playing in the same division as the Panthers and Saints, but the free agent moves are making things worse, not better. Why? Because the Falcons are signing average players to big deals. That's going to put tremendous additional pressure on those guys if the Falcons don't make the playoffs next year. Most big free agent surges happen when a team is desperate to immediately raise their level of play from poor to acceptable. Most of the time acceptable isn't enough after poor. That's how Eric Mangini got fired. Now throw in that the Falcons collapse last year was ongoing before Julio Jones got hurt and that Jones is no guarantee to return strong this year and you've got a very volatile mix in Atlanta. A mix that has become even more incendiary with the addition of the free agents.
Yeah I saw earlier when this was reported Jets offering a high incentive based contract. This deal will get done
I agree, I felt Wilson did a pretty good job last season. I'm comfortable letting him go one more time, but I assume some sort of competition will be brought by the end of the offseason.
Oh and BTW.. Champ Bailey has stated he would move to safety How about grabbing Decker, DRC, and Champ from the Broncos...
The only thing with DRC is how much passion does he have? He' talked a few times about wanting to retire. Once a player starts talking about it, it's a concern, especially a guy in his prime... Jets need to figure that one out w him. If he's in it for the long haul, then let's get it done... He's a hell of a cover corner for sure.
I'd imagine that's why they are bringing him in. I'm sure Idzik wants to pick his brain about his love and commitment to the game. If he proves it's there it's a no brainer move. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason he's still out on the market.
I remember a couple of years ago when some guy called into Joe & Evan to ask if DRC is one of Cro's sons haha.
I have a question why the Jets created all this cap space, and are not using it to fill open positions. Breaking the bank is a term I would use to use up all your cap space. The Jets are not near using all their cap space. nor is there any other likely and effective way the $40mil in cap space will be used, as far as I can tell. meanwhile other FA players who could contribute to the team are going elsewhere. And yes, you are right in one sense. All that cap space has nothing to do with low round draft picks. Nor does using that money on FA prevent the Jets from being effective in the draft with low round picks. To put it as clear as I can, if they had been using the cap money, they could still get make good picks in the draft. Saving cap space is not necessary to have an effective draft.
If we land DRC and another WR id wouldnt be mad at the free agency .. Wanted a little more but i definitely cant complain . I think idzik will make good picks and have a trade that will land is another weapon like last year
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 38s Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with CB Charles Tillman on a one-year contract.
Conor Orr @ConorTOrr 58s Sounds like Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will visit the #Giants after his #Jets visit. More to come soon on http://NJ.com/Giants We better not let him leave without signing.
