Earlier this week the news was James Jones was going to visit on Friday, correct? That could be why Sanders wasn't able to visit today.
gut feeling is Vick is a jet by months end. as to who starts? I legitimately don't know, the hope is that Smith progress regardless of that though. MV would only be looked as a competitor of the present rather than a long term answer, which even if he lost to Vick Smith still could be.
This I wouldn't be opposed to at all. Sign one more receiver and then use the remaining to resign guys like Wilkerson and Co. I'd rather take the hit this year and build than spend money on these lower quality guys.
Where's my homie Jason Campbell at? He needs to come visit the Jets. Shaun Hill too. I would rather have one of those 2 over Vick. Really want Jason Campbell as a back-up. He will win you a few games if Geno is hurt.
The Jets can't fill all the holes on this team with the draft. Not this year, anyway. No more significant FA signings means the Jets will not be a compettive team in 2014. That may sound harsh, but it is true.
True. I mean we were 8-8 in 2013, we upgraded at receiver (our biggest weakness), we stand no chance at being competitive.
If you frontload a player too much, especially one who may get better as the contract plays out, you are almost asking them to hold out down the road. And how much does it make sense to give Wilkerson anyway, considering he is under contract for 2014 already at just over $2mil? In short they will not significantly cut into the available cap space even if they redo Wilkerson's contract.
Our biggest weakness is at Qb, but I know that is not a popular opinion. If you think the only thing that has been done to the roster is upgrade wideout, you have not been paying attention. I am not going to bother going through the list merely because you have not been. Right now, the roster looks worse than it did this point last year.
Sign me up on either LaFell/Jones/Sanders with a TE as well as a WR or 2 in the draft and I'll be happy.
Its the secondary, both CB and S. Geno had a better season than Milliner last year. I hope we look at Ryan Clark...he seems like the type of guy Rex would love. Could get him on a 1 or 2 year deal. Very good leader and we don't play in Denver this year(They come to us) so he won't have to sit down for that game. He turns 35 this October so I think on a 1 year say 3 million deal, he takes it and we got a starting safety in him.
Re sign Cro sign Chris Clemons add Owen Daniels and maybe MJD and I can honestly say have a avg to good draft and we will be better than last year.
That ain't true at all, Geno was ranked one of the worst QBs in the league last year. Milliner was not at the bottom of CB rankings. Both players struggled early and turn it on later in the season. Milliner was the best CB on the team last year, when you look at the overall picture. Geno had his ups and downs. Both players should get a lot better this year. Milliner could become an elite corner, he showed flashes near the end of the season. Geno is still a question mark. A lot of folks are acting like the off season is over and we are standing pat as is. I don't think so. FA visits take time. I think Sanders is visiting today. If we land him and bring in DRC, then pay Wilkerson I will be very happy with the off season, and we have a nice deep draft with lots of picks again. It ain't over till the fat lady sings.
The best on a crappy squad lol but hey I think Walls showed great flashes... Dee will improve... Allen can ball, heck bring back Ihedigbo and draft well
Was just listening to Cowhern on ESPN radio. According to him, the Jets are being the usual Jets by 'overpaying' for Decker, while the Pats are still the class of the NFL by 'only' signing Revis to a one year deal. Drives me nuts. He is just anti-Jet. I GUARANTEE if the teams were switched, the Pats would have made a savvy signing in Decker for good value while the Jets grossly overpaid to get Revis back into the fold and only for a one year merc signing. Douche.
More changes in the offense with guys like Holmes and Kerley getting hurt and having to use recently signed guys like Salas, Sufeld and Nelson. Being the best CB on last year's team isn't much of an accomplishment given Cromartie's struggles, Wilson being just meh and Walls playing good for a game or two but after that nothing.
I really dont think its that bad. We lost a RT,CB,and OG from an 8-8 team. Right tackle if anything is a draw. Cromartie was an awesome corner for us 2 years ago. Last year he was horrible and that's nicely worded. We'll bring in one eventually then can debate. We just added the best free agent receiver which we desperately needed. We can still add Colon if there is not a beter option. We have 12 draft picks and almost 40 million to spend.
